I currently have all of my components (cable box, 360, ps3, etc) hooked up via HDMI to my XBR9 Sony TV. From the Sony TV I have an optical out going to my audio receiver.
Cable/ps3/360 >> HDMI >> TV >> optical >> Audio Receiver
I read a TON of topics before posting this and there is a lot of speculation that the TV will downgrade the audio to 2ch but after reviewing the specs of my TV it says it is capable of outputting 5.1.
So I come to the experts.... Is my current setup sending 5.1 to my audio receiver? It isn't ideal to run an optical cable from every component to my audio receiver...
I'm not able to post the specs of my TV because I don't have enough posts..
