If you have access to woodworking tools and several friends, build your own fixed screen. Just as has been mentioned previously, on a blank wall, see what the largest image your PJ will project. Make a frame out of oak/ash and buy the screen material on eBay. Several strong friends with clean gloves to stretch the fabric and bow (bend) the frame while you staple it. Use plain baseboard material covered in black velour for your border. Hang it on the wall and steam the wrinkles out. Viola!
Now, whatever you make will probably not be as perfect as a store-bought, but the satisfaction of saving the $$'s is worth alot in my book.
Back when I built my PJ screen, all that was avaliable was a brilliant white, if your needs are such, a grey fabric may be available now.
