Sony Bravia KDL-46VL150 vs KDL-46VL160

Just purchased a Sony Bravia KDL-46VL150 yesterday at Costco, but noticed their website only listed the KDL-46VL160...

Did I buy "old" technology?

What are the differences, and should I have gone with the KDL-VL160?

Thanks!

I had the exact same question when I got home after buying that TV from Costco yesterday. I'd love to know which one is really the better choice (or if a different TV for the same price is better than both).

Here's as much as I've been able to discover from some quick browsing of the Sony site.

(Sorry, I can't post links as this is my first post so you'll have to piece them together from what's below.)

KDL-46VL150 (the one in the store): www. docs. sony. com/release/specs/KDL46VL150_mksp.pdf

KDL-46VL160 (the one online): www. docs. sony. com/release/specs/KDL46VL160_mksp.pdf

It looks like the 150 gives you 5000:1 on-screen contrast ratio and 70000:1 dynamic while the 160 gives you 3000:1 and 30000:1 instead.

But.. the 150 only has the 8-bit panel while the 160 has the 10-bit panel.

Also, the 160 has an ethernet port and acts as a DLNA client for photos while the 150 does not have a network connection.

Let me know if you find anything to determine which one is the better purchase. Thanks!

I'm actually now comparing the Bravia 46vl150 to the Bravia 46v5100 (BB deal going on right now)
It seems the only difference is the 70,000:1 on the Costco model vs 50,000:1 on the BB model. Also, the exterior casing is slightly different.
I don't think those two differences justify the Costco model over the BB PS3 deal going on right now...
we'll see I guess.

Any ideas between the:

Costco - Sony Bravia KDL-VL150 (70,000:1)
BB - Sony Bravia KDL-V5100 (50,000:1)

I'm not sure if my eyes deceive me because I've read the contrast ratio's... I find it hard to believe that I can see a difference between the contrast ratio's, and I really want to like the BB one because of the bundle deal.

Any help on the differences?

I don't think there is going to be a real noticeable difference between the two, even with the difference in stated contrast levels. If you like the BB bundle, you should be fine with the V5100. Also consider the W5100, which has some nice Internet widget features.

I am also looking at the Cosco ad. What kind of bundle does BB offer? If you buy there, be very careful if you use their financing. I have had a terrible time both times I used it. It is hard to pay and get info even if you just want to pay every month and totally unforgiving with high rates. I have great credit and just wanted the deferred pay to keep money invested, but not worth the hassle.
