low end only bass trap with reflective fabric ?

Trying to use 4-6 " thick compressed cotton (SSI) to make a low-end only bass trap for the front wall to reduce booming in a smallish room (16'x11'x9' h), key requirement is I do not want to absorb mids and highs (e.g. starting from 2K up), and it will cover a good low end window of frequencies (not Helmhotz types); is a reflective fabric like mylar or vinyl a good way to achieve this ? I read in another forum that 'limp mounting' can help ...

thanks a lot

Isn't that what the foil scrim is often used for? You can hide it under the usual GOM fabrics.

Maybe since I never owned a house in US, can you tell me what is "foil scrim " ? Is it different from aluminum foil ? I need to get it locally ... thx BMiDC !

the foil scrim referred to is a HVAC product used typically to cover insulation. Some insulation comes faced but you can also by a separate roll, It has a layer of aluminum but also has a layer of kraft paper. Most of the scrim I've seen has fiberglass mesh (think fish-line) for added durability
