4x V52, 1x V52 CLR. I've been running this rig since the mid-90s. Need some advice on upgrade path. Primary use is movies, not music. The dream goal was matched L-C-R speakers; but space is a factor.
Option 1: 3x DV62 CLR-S on the fronts 2x DV62si for the rears.
pro: Matched L-C-R speakers. Matched drivers all around
con: Most expensive. Weight and space. The DV62 CLR-S is 25 lbs and 21" high (vertical oriented) The L-R fronts have to live in bookshelves
- (requiring a modification of the shelves to fit) The DV62 CLRS is five lbs too heavy for my center speaker mount. (max 20lbs)
Option 2: 4x DV62si, 1x DV62 CLR
pro: matched drivers all around. No mod to bookshelves necessary.
con: The DV62 CLRS is five lbs too heavy for my center speaker mount. (max 20lbs) Not matched L-C-R.
Option 3: replace front L&R V52s with DV52 CLRB
; keep V52 in surrounds and V52 CLR center.
pro: Least expensive. Matched drivers all around. Pseudo-matched L-C-R speakers. (the V52 CLR is no longer made) Vertically mounted 52CLRB will fit in bookshelves w/o mods. (18")
con: 52CLRB more of an unknown than the 62CLRS. More of a sidegrade than upgrade.
No plans to mod the 62CLRS crossover.
Some misc questions:
Anyone using DV62 CLR-S for L-R mains oriented horizontally? (not ideal, I know)
Anyone have opinions DV5
