What's better than KDL-40VZ4100/KDL-40VL160 for bedroom?

Hey all. I bought the KDL-40VL160 from Costco for $850 and so far it seems to be VERY dim compared to my roommates TV (he has a Sharp Aquos 37").

I chose the Sony 40" instead of the Vizio 40" (which was $300 less) because I like Sony, Sony's remotes and the bezel is very thin compared to all the other TVs I've seen.

I use it mostly for PS3/Wii and watching sports on TV. I don't want to go over 42" for a bedroom TV as I'm only sitting 6'-8' away. As I have 90 days to return it, can anyone recommend a better TV?

I have read that plasma would be better for me but unfortunately Costco doesn't carry many plasmas anymore.

As I will probably be using this TV for awhile, I really want to make the right decision and buy one of the best ones (except for the KUROs).

Thanks for your replies!

Hi, Classacts -- if you still have your Sony tv:

I bought the same model and I also noticed a very grey/dim picture, esp. at night. Here is one thing that may help; it vastly improved my picture:

From the menu for the tv, go to Settings. Toggle down to General Setup. From there, go to "Light Sensor," and turn that feature off.

Apparently, the light sensor adjusts the picture according to the ambient light in the room. But it typically just makes the picture drab and dark. There have been many complaints about this (also known as "autodimming" on other Sony models).

Btw, when I first brought the Sony menu up on the screen (you press the Home button on the Sony remote to do that), the Settings icon (looks like a toolbox) did not appear until I "left" button a few times. Then keep pressing that button until you actually land on the Settings icon.

Hope this helps, and Happy New Year.
