I knew it can't handle DTS but I remember reading on another site (similar to this) that people with a larger 2009 European model were able to play WMV files. Seems the European models can do a lot of things ours can't.

Remote just came! MPEG-2 MPG files play perfectly with no menu corruption at all. As soon as I hover over an MPEG-4 and the player tries to 'preview' it, that's when the menu corruption happens. The files I tried were all anamorphic and all played fine. What kind of aspect ratio problems are you having?

What is the advantage in using MPEG-2 TS rather than MPEG-2 MPG? I ask this because I have a program that will convert to MPEG-2 MPG easily, rather than having to do all of that stuff you listed for the MPEG-2 TS. So, if there's no difference, I'll stick with the program. If there's a big difference, I'll change it up.

EDIT: Also, very important... The files all seem to play with TruMotion turned on, even though I have it disabled for all inputs. Does this happen to you? Do you know how to disable it for USB playback? I'm guessing that the 'Picture Settings' are disabled for my firmware for DivX HD playback. That sucks. It almost renders it completely useless. I wonder if upgrading the firmware will bring back Picture Settings or if it will make things worse.

Hi... I seem to need .ts format to get 16:9 aspect ratio to work right for some movies, and stability is better. With .mpg it tends to quit playback very occasionally. I do use .mpg sometimes, if .mpg works for you then go for it. By the way you can convert back and forth easily - .mpg to .ts using tsMuxerGui, and .ts to .mpg using MPEG_Streamclip.

The limited options in changing picture settings is a pain, and as far as I know applies to all sets European or North American (maybe the 2010 models are better). Here's what you can do:

- The quick AV settings work to change between presets, so choose which one looks best. Unfortunately TruMotion is on for all of them on my set. With 1080p movie playback I hardly if ever see motion artifacts, I find it's more noticeable on lower resolutions.

- Use energy saver to adjust brightness

take care,
G

Man, you are the best! Switching it to GAME turns off TruMotion! Cinema and Sport still have it on, but Game mode does not! Game mode doesn't look TOO bad, either (just a tad darker than I'd like, but whatever, it's better than TruMotion). I tried using TS instead of MPG and it seems to look just as great. You are a life saver. Double check with your set to see if Game mode has TruMotion because it definitely does NOT on mine. I've tested 6 videos so far just to be sure.

My program seems to convert files faster to TS than MPG, as well. Took me 15 minutes to convert a 1.34 GB 2 hour film from MPEG-4 AVI to MPEG-2 TS. Not bad at all.

Sorry for the late reply.

My tv is the LG 42LH2000 and it plays everything except MKV with DTS.

My friends tv is the LG 37LG5000 , i have been able to use the IR hack and get a service menu up on screen but this menu only has options for the HDMI/RGB inputs along with a couple of other options and a TOOL 1 menu , there are no other options available. His firmware is v 3.35.1.

Are there any firmware versions for his model that allow usb playback ?

DTS is not supported only mkv with ac3 and or other formats with ac3 only.

I am little confused because I have the model 32LH70YR, and the only thing close that i've seen here is 32LH7000. Does anyone know if my TV can do the upgrade. I purchased it a few months ago, and it won't play mkv files. Also my display is a little blurry when I'm using HDMI and I thought a firmware fix might help.

Thanks,
Omer

Hi Guys!
For srt problems I found (with mkv too), load srt filr into Subtitle workshop and save in the same format, it will work.

I usually make longer duration time and upper case for better watch on the creen.

Hi my friends.
I have a 42lh30fr with fw 3.20 and would like to have it accept mkv, hd through USB port, I also have a gain in legends, why are very small, which fw should I install and where to find? Grateful.

Hi everybody, hope someone can help. I'd like to connect my Android phone to the LG tv I already hacked. I'm just not confident trying it before someone confirms it won't short circuit my phone or anything!
I guess for it to act as a usb memory I just need to enable the UMS option... but will the tv be fine with it?
Thanks

Bad news.

I've the 32LH70YR and the same EZ-Adjust screen. The OK-OK or Menu-Menu method doesn't work.
The TV is based on the LP91A chassis and use the LGE3767A (based on the MST99A88ML), the legend on the schematics say "MATRIX ONLY SD DIVX_NON RM" and this chip is certified by DivX as "DivX Home Theater Version 3.0 (720x576)" so the equipment based on LP91A clearly don't play HD DivX.

I would stay away from the other stuff. I've heard about people bricking their set for activating things like Bluetooth when their TV doesn't come with Bluetooth, etc. I even saw some THX modes in the menus but I chose not to activate it for 2 reasons:

1) I rather love how my TV is calibrated, so I doubt I'd switch even if the THX mode looked nice.

2) I don't think that *my* particular display was THX calibrated - I think that it's just part of the general firmware, so it's not going to help by enabling it unless this model's panel were calibrated.

Hello everyone,

I read about the method for USB activation, however my TV set doesn't have
diagnostic screen. When I enter SETUP menu there is no diagnostic submenu to check fw version for the start.

model is 42LF2510

Thanx in advance

What is "digital eye" anyway? Is it the sensor that changes the screen birghtness according to ambient light?
My model doesn't have it so I would be careful with such options.

Hi all,
is there any possibility to get in to TV Link-loader menu (Hotel Menu)?
I have 42LF2510. Updated to v3.67 and unlocked USB. I have access to EZ Setup (Tool Option 1,2, etc.) menu via Emtec universal remote.
But how to get to other "service" menu (Hotel Menu) and TV Link Loader. I want to download TTL list from my TV to USB stick like i Did in v3.15.
I also have RSR232 Null-modem cable. Can i use it to get into Hotel Menu?

Hi there, I'm/was the author of http://lgusb.wikispaces.com the wiki that got deleted by WikiSpaces.

The wiki was deleted after wikispaces got a DMCA notice from LG's lawyers.
Here's what they said :
Quote:

We received a DMCA notice from Ross Panko the attorney of LG Electronics, Inc. (contact details below) indicating that information hosted on your wiki infringes on LG's copyright. The wiki in question is

http://lgusb.wikispaces.com/

According to his claim, the wiki is providing information purporting to instruct others on how to circumvent the security technology contained in LG's television products.

We have removed the deleted your wiki.

I'm saddened and wondering what they mean with "circumventing the security technology" when all that wiki was about was a simple click of some buttons....
It's sad to see that page remove but I guess there's not much that I/we can do about it.

I have a .pdf version of the wiki, that I could upload it somewhere if people are still interested in the information it contains.
Unfortunately you will have to search for the firmware files as I saved only the frontpage.

P.S. Thanks to everyone! I'm still amazed by the response and interest that the wiki generated.

I wish to thanks to all who shared here the info about activating usb on lg tvs especially to Devil Strike,Jeton,Georgie and to all of you for risking your lcd(in the name of the science :-)) .
After reading here all posts I have decided to try (risk)this on my 26LH2000 LG with fw 3.47
I first upgraded to v 3.65(EU_ALL_0.1.57.66_flash.epk) than down to 3.15,activated what described Devil Strike on first post than upgraded again to 3.65.
Somewhere I found this LG pdf manual and I try to attach here if permitted
If they are doing this like in the manual, why don't we?
works great for me!
Thanks again!
If someone needs the fw files that I used, send me pm with your email,
Danny
