Firmware Hack And Firmware updates LG LH/LF Series - Page 3

Is the firmware hack also available on Lg 42LH3300 ?
I can't find any info about it anywhere on the net.
Hope someone here has experience with this model, and is able to help me out.
It is an european model, because it has dutch language menu.

Yes since its european. IMO the IR/remote methods is your best bet if your set's not listed.

Do the IR/remote methods show different Menus than pressing keys on TV/RC ?

Sorry, looks like your menus are different. Unless you can find something called "DivX" in another place you may be out of luck.

And in searching for that, make sure that no setting changes are inadverantly made. Coz they get saved without warning when you exit out of the FW pages. Btw check out the wiki site discussions @ http://lgusb.wikispaces.com/: some guy has found a hack to get the "DivX" option to appear in the menu.

For your Asian model try this first.....

"LCD TV 32LF20/Аsia-model/
Firmware 4.04
Goto into service menu (press Menu on both Remote Control & TV at the same time until password screen popup then enter "0000" as a password)
Tools Option 2 & Enable USB. That's it.
You will see the USB on the menu now..Enjoy!!"

.......Enable USB means make it = 1. So that means nothng to do with 'Tool Option 3 setting'. This is copy/pasted from another post in these forums

Thank sangos, USB on my set is already enable and can play SD but NOT HD.
It seems like it needs a new FW to enable HD, given that the hardware for 1080p already there. But I see the issue on getting new FW's (and supports in general) in Asia, it's much more difficult than in EU or America.

Right now I m facing a problem while playing my video file, the TV reboot after a few seconds or minutes of playing the file, i dont know if i have to enable something else in the menu services ??

You are the first to face this problem for enabling USB playback AFAIK...this behavior was only reported for enabling bluetooth, which am assuming is not the case.

Yeah I have read by all the post and topic treating the divx enable on lg , and I m the first to face something similar , my tv reboot only once i play video file. very strange.

The menus on my set as attached, there is no Tool Option in EZ adjust.

Thanks. What is the HD file you are trying to play? Typically it should be encoded in H.264...refer the wiki for the video specs.

So you can bangup LG support if it is not playing back HD by any chance

Does this happen after you are ONLY trying to playback a video file? And does this happen(rebooting) with all types of video file extensions like .avi, .mp4,.mkv etc.

thanks sangos for your help, actually it happens with any type of video file , in the preview menu the screen get pixalized and then the tv reboot after few minutes or when i click on play


before enabling the divx hack i was able to display pictures and playing mp3 without any problem,
I tried both sd and hd mode on tooloption3 , it comes with the same results, i dont know if this problem is related to my firm I have 4.30.1.

any idea how to reset the tv ?

BTW are you not able to disable DivX playback to return the TV back to good health? If not its quite possible some other setting got disturbed accidently.

I just disabled the Divx playback and I tried to access the photolist normally throw the usb option, and i was chocked when my tv rebooted again, the problem is when i activated the divx playback for the first time i didnt touch anythingm i didnt made any downgrade or upgrade because i use the remote hack.

My TV looks the same except it only plays SD from USB port (stated in the manual).
My question is that is there any chance to find the FW of that Canadia TV and apply to my set, or I'll will brick my TV by doing so?

@long_pn AFAIK applying a canadian FW to an Asian model is most likely to brick it! Btw that sucks...if the same tv is capable of different features with some disabled regionwise. Am sure its LG's marketing tricks to sell 'higher end more expensive' models in your country

Thanks for the wonderful information regarding LG LH40 series. I have looked at what Ayko did, & tried the same with RCA RCR412BN remote on my 47LH40 w/ firmware 4.30.01.

I was able to go to the service menu & change the Divx to HD/SD. However, I faced the same problem of the TV rebooting when I tried to play a video. I tried *.wmv, *.avi, *.mkv, & *.divx files. All of them make my TV reboot.

But, I have no problems to play music & pictures from the TV even w/ DivX enabled.
Any suggestions??

Ok. So its a known issue now with only this particular model. IMO the next and only step would be to either upgrade or even downgrade with officially available FW versions. And then apply the hack and check if the TVs stable with movie playback. Basically its going to be hit and trial with different versions. That said I would advise against attempting the project as a precaution. Unfortunately you and Ayko are the first to face this issue! AFAIK we do not have a fix yet for this rebooting behaviour.

I think the problem is with this particular firmware version. And also,no one has tried to get to the service menu using the universal remote. I'll wait for the future FW & see if I can solve the problem.

Let's hope that the problem is with this firmware, and not a special issue with the XXLH40 series. i need a feedback of someone having LH40 series and with firm 4.30.01 if he have the same problem.

Hi... I share this problem, looks like standard behaviour at least on North American LH40 and LH41. Happens on firmware 4.05.00 and 4.30.01, and probably all versions in between. I've written up what I know here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...7#post17939517

Regarding the reboot you mention above, before that did you play a DivX or even just enter the movie menu and let the preview play? I find the TV can reboot any time later, long after you've closed the USB menu. Usually opening some other menu triggers it. After rebooting if you stay out of the movie list you should be fine.

Just having the USB movie option enabled does *not* cause problems unless you enter the movie list and allow a movie or preview to play. As I describe in the post linked to above, MPEG2 movies are handled better, although I still get the occasional reboot later after viewing one, but importantly never in the middle of the movie

I am looking for a version of 3.40 firmware that is not corrupted, as every link I have download seems to have a rar error (other versions look fine).

The reason I am asking is because originally my set was on 3.40, and after performing the usb hack and upgrading to 3.55 everything is working great, except I cannot seem to change the aspect ratio while watching a movie through the USB port. Before I upgraded the green button on the remote would give you lots of options as well as power saving, but now it just controls low - medium - high power saving modes.

I'm hoping by reverting to 3.40 I'll get that function back.

Any ideas?
