No, none of the older panels are interchangeable with the 5020 panel.

Hey Folks,

I was directed here from another thread. But I just bought a Samsung 63 inch 8000 series for my bed room and think I am going to buy another for my living room. But in my living room sits an Elite Kuro 60 inch plasma 151 FD with EVERYTHING, manual, speakers, remote, etc. except its original box, which I trashed after a year of keeping it in my closet (EDIT, why the hell did I say closet, I meant GARAGE). It is still under warranty I think for another month, I have the original receipt from ABT, who I bought it from and had it hand delivered by. Its life has been in one location the whole time, never moved from its original position. Its near perfect, I cant see a single thing wrong with it, I have never had a problem with it. It sits about 4-5 feet off the ground, so no one could accidentally touch it. Its been very well maintained.

Here's the problem, I have no idea whats a reasonable price for it. I want to throw it on chicago's craigs list or ebay (for local pickup), but I dont know how much to ask.

Any help?

Thanks!

Jon

why not keep the Kuro? Its a better set than the Samsung??

Honestly,...... because I cant see the difference. And also admitedly, I like that the samsung reads .mkv files natively. I just plug in the mem stick, and away she goes playing my movies with no fuss. Where as the Kuro only does mp4 stuff. And yes, the gimicky 3d stuff has my interest right now too.. lol.

My final 'rational' for this non rational sale, is that I like 'new hotness' I've owned this TV for almost 2 years (3/2/2009), its time for something else. I do the same thing with cars.. lol.

If you search this thread you'll see some numbers. If you set up a videogon/audiogon account you can search videogon and see current and previous asking prices.

Pristine 60" Elites are quite popular.

Much Appeciated. I'll give that a shot tomorrow. If you had to guess (because I am lazy), whats the best place to sell it for getting the most attention, and most reasonable market price? Should I just ebay it, and be done? Or do this Videogon/Audiogon site?

Thank you very much!

Giving up Kuro greatness for gadgets???? What a waste. Makes me sick to my stomach, but please sell it so one who appreciates it can enjoy.

I am the opposite, I am giving up a PN58C8000 for a Pro-101FD. No comparison the Elite wins hands down, I have some 3D movies I could sell if you don't get sick from watching them like 30% of the population does.

My dealer stocked up on Kuro at the end of the production. They bought two semi's of the Pioneers. He is down to the last two floor models. A 60 inch 141. It is in the back and calibrated (not torch big box style). Full warranty.

Where do I find a price that is reasonable?

I'm not sure I understand your question?

Are you asking what we feel is a reasonable price that he should charge for them?

Depends pretty much solely on the number of hours of usage on the panel and if the unit is still in good shape aesthetically and functionally (no dings or scratches, no burn-in or image retention or other abnormalities).

If it's low hours with no glaring issues in terms of the above, then I'd say he should charge no more than $3500-$4000. If it's got a lot of hours on it (say.. more than 5000 hours) or has any BR/IR then that price should drop pretty significantly IMO.

You never know though... some people are willing to try and sell used 60" Kuros (signature, elite or monitors) for upwards of $6000 which I think is a little ridiculous.

Good luck.

Either he feels like this is a "collectible." or shopworn discount.

I am not interested in collectible. (I.e. 6,000 plus).

They had a 50 inch with a 4,600 price tag (latest model Kuro don't ask which one). I raised my eyebrows at the salesman (his boss was busy). He quickly said that was only an asking price...

Their inventory of new is now gone, and they want to move on.

A web search finds people who think they are gold and used. I know a demo from a dealer with warranty is better.

With newer plasma, (e.g. Panasonic vt30) with 3d and _perhaps_ quality getting closer.

I just look at the quality of the Kuro and get the "I want it now" feeling.

It sold for $5000 after the auction ended. Local buyer didnt want to risk a re-list with national shipping becoming an option.
