In hindsight, if you had to do it all over again, would you buy the better components from the beginning? Or would you go about it the same way, because you're enjoying the process as much as the end-result.
Ideally I would have started with the current system, of course (would have saved thousands of dollars!). But as you mentioned, the process has been a big part of the fun. Plus, I have to say, I do miss my OM9's and OMC2 at times. They had a "warmer" sound and while not as accurate in the highs or pin point imaging that the S2's have, they had this uncanny ability to throw out a HUGE soundstage in the room.
Plus, the OMC2 center channel has thus far been the best overall sounding CC I've ever heard in with its ability to sound the same even when sitting considerably off-axis I found.
Chances are, I'm fairly certain I'll probably get the upgrade bug in a couple years again in terms of speakers.
I just sold my Sunfire Cinema Grand to make room for my pro-amp that will drive my DIY subs. But chances are I'll also go back to separates, just for fun, at some point in time. I'm interested in particular in those new ICE amps from D-Sonic for instant. Interesting design. Not that I need the added amplification. But since when did "need" actually enter into any of these decisions!?
