You know I thought the electronic led movie poster was cool. Now with the times and the Now Playing included makes it FREAKING AMAZING wow. 1? Which program did you use or how did you did you get it to work.

He runs his own company, Cinemar, and if you look at some of his previous posts with photos of his touch screen that runs everything, and then compare it to the company's site, you will see that it is one in the same. So he, being the coding guy that he is, programmed it himself.

Thanks BUSHIE.
Software-wise, you would need MainLobby, MLServer and DVDLobby and most likely our AV Family in order to pull off the Virtual Movie Poster.
I've built a system that not only plays movies for the theater, but also supplies a video feed to the LED Movie Poster. Killed two birds with one stone.
We could actually design something out-of-the-box if there's some interest - Movie Player plus Virtual Movie Poster Display all in one box. Otherwise, I'm happy to share my scene file along with all the graphics you'll need. It actually took me only about an hour to build the scene. 50 minutes of that was spent in Photoshop and 10 minutes was spent in MainLobby laying it out.

That's correct. Everything I'm doing is step and repeatable by anyone else who's interested. I'm happy to share scene files.
Hi guys thanx for the reply, I guess I would need to to get a htpc but I still like popping in a bluray so I would like the now playing on top of the pic for the movie I'm showing don't mind to run pics from computer or would you guys say i must get a htpc to hold my current library. I have not yet started on my home theatre just gathering ideas from everyone. Once again what a great looking theatre.

You have some options available. If you prefer to still pop in BluRay's, you can use DVDLobby to select the movie. Which then pushes it to your Virtual Movie Poster along with the start and end time's. If you have a lot of movies and you number them, you can even have DVDLobby popup a message saying which # BluRay to grab off your shelf. So you would essentially use it to catalog your movies and make a selection. Once the Play Movie command is triggered....the Movie Poster comes to life.
My FIL put the final coat on the steps and bull nose. This coat turned out less tacky than the first can we used.
I've also finished tagging all my DBOX movies so you know which ones have MFX attached to them.
On another note. I had yearly service scheduled for my Generac generator. It was good timing because a hose had worked itself loose and prevented the generator from running. So it would have been bad news if we had heavy rains and a power outage for the theater. I may need to add something to alert me inside of a failure. I think they have something I can add that's wireless. It's scheduled to run once a week, but I may be on the phone and not notice it. Although this past couple weeks I didn't recall hearing it startup.
I usually come on this forum to ask a simple question about my little 5.1 set. But tonight I thought I'd take a look in this section of the forum. And man... Was I happy to find this thread! I've spent the last two hours going through it seeing your movie theater develop. I'm so happy I didn't have to wait a week after each update
I have seen a few of these home theaters on other forums but none to the likes of this one. Congratulations with your enormous achievement and I hope you'll have some good times using it instead of wondering what you could improve or change being the obvious perfectionist that you are.

Thanks for letting me enjoy your work!
Thanks for devoting two hours of your life to reading about the last year and half of mine.
I've finally had a chance to watch a couple more movies. BTW, Tron was pretty incredible for not only sound and picture, but also the D-Box. Really brought the movie to whole new level.
I don't see any drop outs now like I did with the older non-powered version. My run must have been too long. The only downside is the power is at the projector which is not ideal. But I've done my best to hide it above the projector.
Here's a photo I put together that I sent to friends with an invite for the Packer game this Sunday. I saw someone else on the forum do the same thing and thought it was really clever.
Mario - I have a question about your riser and stage nosings. Are the oak boards that you used standard 1"x material? I plan to match your construction method and just want to make sure that I am using the right material.

Yes. I bought all the Oak at a local Menard's. The lip underneath the bull nose was 1/2" x 3/4" though.
Mario - do you have any tips for photographing the HT? I don't have a DSLR but I do have a micro four thirds with a fast pancake lens - it seems to do a decent job in low light most of the time but I just can't seem to get decent results in the HT, let alone the kind of results you get.
Do you use HDR techniques? How long do you expose for? How do you set the ambient lighting in the room?
Thanks Mario. I'll check mine as well to see what they have.
I'm fortunate enough to have two menard's in my area...both about 12 minutes from my house. So if one was out of something, I could usually find it at the other. I also have a Home Depot and Lowes right in the area.

I too have all three within 15 minutes of me (two of which are less than 5 minutes from me). Sorry, two additional questions. Is it red or white oak that you used and what was the width? Because of the curves you may not have used the boards as-is but cut them from wider ones but if you could tell me the final depth (horizontal not vertical) that would be great. Thanks Mario.

That's great...make's life easier especially when you are making daily runs...and sometimes twice a day on the weekends.
I used the Red Oak. I don't think there was a large selection of white available in the stores.
I used various sizes through out the room and seamed them together for the front stage. I had the benefit of doing it in the 3D software, so I could easily figure out the sizes I needed with minimal waste.
I don't recall all the various sizes I used unfortunately per section...but regardless...unless your room is the exact same size, I don't think it will matter.
