SuperMediaStore closing out Taiyo Yuden.

SuperMediaStore has been having "while supplies last" sales on their Taiyo Yuden stock for the last couple of weeks, especially on the 8x stuff. I know it's probably in advance of changing over to the JVC name brand, but just in case.....

Anyone interested in stocking up should do so **now***.

So far, I have only seen the "while supplies last" on the TY value-line series. But thanks for the heads-up!

Sorry, I haven't been around here due to a death in the family.

They've been having close outs on the 8x premium line too. I just picked up 200. I didn't want to take a chance on another JVC fiasco.

It's worth getting on their weekly email list. Pretty good sale stuff every week.

I get the regular newsletter, and I see no indication that Supermediastore is "closing out" TY 8x. Most of their sales and specials say "while supplies last"--which I take to mean, "If we sell out our current inventory, the sale is over!" (Which, BTW, I've never seen happen.) NOT, "Hey, grab 'em now 'cuz when they're gone, they're gone."

During 2009 each time supermediastore.com had promotions for 8X Premium Line DVD-R discs I observed a "while supplies last" notice in the listing. In 2009 I ordered a total of 2,900 Taiyo Yuden discs from supermediastore.com with orders in January (600), May (600), July (500), August (600), September (200), October (200) and November (200).

In the last hour I ordered 200 more Taiyo Yuden discs from supermediastore.com.

Isn't JVC taking over the TY line? I look at the ad as phasing out the TY branded stock, which will be replaced by JVC stock. Supermedia usually runs a timed sale- usually one week. I've never seen them advertise "while supplies last" and quite frankly, every store I've even seen use that phrase has meant close out.

I hope I'm wrong. If anyone else has any info, please jump in.

You managed to quote the first draft of my post.

In an earlier thread there were links to the 2008 announcement that Taiyo Yuden had bought the rights to produce DVD and CD media under the JVC name, not the other way around. Here is the link (originally posted by Wajo) to the brief announcement:

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUST13450420080526

Notice this sentence in the announcement:

"The two companies said the new company would keep JVC's production base of magnetic media but would switch to Taiyo Yuden for the supply of optical disks."

The earlier thread title also got the TY buyout of JVC backward:
