I am pretty sure that's multiple sentences in your post which calls for some period thingies here and there. It saves readers time when trying to read your post

Your question leaves out key details. Like, why do you want to change receivers?

the onkyo seems like its a better deal im going to be running a 5.1 system on it for a while but i like the idea that if i want to go 7.1 ill be able to. the con for the onkyo doh is that it only has 80w per channel which seems kinda low. also ive heard that onkyo has some issues with to much heat which causes damage on there system.

The Onkyo will meet its specs closer than the Yamaha. I don't get all crazy over the heat issue thingy. I bought an Onkyo 876 that was supposed to be a blast furnace going by what others here say. It does not run as hot as the Yamaha 2600 I was using before it. For these prices you can also look at the Denon 590/1610. It uses a better version of Audyssey than the RC160. Don't worry about the heat crap. Any of them driving inefficient speakers will get hot. Although the speakers you are using are not that way. Go for either the RC160 or the Denon 590/1610. To me they are your best choices.

Plus I think the newer line Yamaha AVR's are over rated (except for maybe the 775 and above?) - Then again the speakers you (as already noted above) are efficient and the lower power might not even be heard.

I'd go for the Denon duo (590/1610 as 1st then the HT160 which will sound more warm then the Yamaha too boot.

oops overrated in the power output department. the 665 does that share the same power unit as the 565? or is it the same as the 765?

IMO, the only differences you will notice with Yamaha's offerings this year won't begin until you get to the 1065 or 2065. Everything below that there are better buys. Even with these two there are better receivers for the money you would spend on these two. This coming from a long time Yamaha owner. For years Yamaha was the only receiver I would buy, I passed everything else up to get to the Yamaha displays, no longer. At least until they do better than this years models.

Good choice you should enjoy that one. Let us know how it turns out. That's the only way we can recommend or condemn them is from users views.

I bought HT-RC160 too after reading lot of good reviews. Looking for good set of speakers now.

I have the 607, which is basically the same thing as RC160, and I love it. It runs warm, but not hot, IMO.
