Where do I get the wrap that goes on the end of speaker wire? (heat shrink Y shape?)

I bought 12 gauge wire on eBay.

Wondering if there is that heat shrink stuff that goes on the end to cover up wires, and also if there is something to slip the wire in to that covers the outside. Like a jacket. Anyone?

Heat shrink can be purchased at any electronic jobber or Radio Shack.

The "jacket" you mention is called a "Cable Pant" and you can get them here. They also have heat shrink!

Do you know what size of cable pants I should get for the speaker wire I listed? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Don't get pleated cable pants, they are out of style.

Your speaker wire link says the wire is 8mm so I guess you would select the pants made for 8mm.

BTW, the same (or extremely similar) speaker wire is available from monoprice.com for about half the price you paid.

1. put a larger heat shrink on the cable.
2. place the smaller heat shrinks on the + and - portion.
3. heat the smaller heat shrinks to the wire.
4. place the larger heat shrink over both the smaller heat shrinks covering the ends and the split in the cable.
5. heat the large heat shrink and voila, good looking cables.

If you need any more wire I suggest buying it from Monoprice and save a few bucks. www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023901&p_id=2817&seq=1&format=2

So are bellbottoms, but it's easier to pull the wire through.

Wow. I had no idea. I should have asked. Dang!

Anyone know of cable covering? The stuff that goes over the speaker wire? It'd be kind of nice to have black covering over the wire.

I don't know what to do though because mine is 8mm and all I see is 1/4" and 3/8". Any ideas?

Edit: I got it, the 1/4" can go a little bigger and a little smaller. I saw the 1/4" goes from 1/8" to 6/16", so that should be good.

Can someone help me? The heat shrink tubes people have been posting don't really look like the ones I'm imagining. The ones I'm imaging kind of have are in a Y formation, but still is heat shrink you use with a hair dryer. I'm confused. The ones I'm thinking of cover the end of the cable and are kind of a Y, but they are heat shrink. Like cable pants, but heat shrink. The images posted just cover the conductors themselves.

Well, I just figured the cable pants would be fine. They looked pretty good. I'll have to see what they're like. Considering they were only $10 with shipping for 5 pairs, I figure it's not much of a risk.
