Ordering TV today, really need your help

I don't know much about Plasma's but am looking for a Plasma, thats at least 42" but would prefer a 50" or so. My budget is no more than $900. This will be used mainly for my xbox 360, and will be buying a blue-ray player in the future. What would you recommend? I'm looking at a Panasonic 42", TC-P42S1 as I have read some decent reviews on it. However I would really like a 50" but quality is a big concern of mine.

What would everyone recommend?

.. for few extra pennies: Panasonic 46" S1 (Buydig) or Samsung 50" B560 (Vanns).

** p.s. may want to hold a day to see if any last day 'deals' crop-up on the last day of this Year. !!

Register at searsoutlet.com and see what kind of deals they have. I can pick up the 50" s1 in my area for a lot less than your budget...

The Panasonic 50x1 and/or the Samsung 50b450 (720p sets) should be had easily in your price range. Don't worry about 1080p in the sizes you're looking at. If you're going for the 1080p sets you may have to look hard for your price, I haven't seen them new in that price. The sears outlet may be an option if you don't mind open items.

They only have them for 1299 here

Buying low-end models to get a big screen at a low price MIGHT get you some picture quality issues you are unhappy with.
So even more important to see the set on display first, before pulling the trigger.
