I'm setting up my first 5.1 system and I'm trying to minimize the financial investment while still getting some enjoyment until I can afford to upgrade and/or build and replace as time goes. I just rec'd my Onkyo SR707 yesterday.
I've been looking around the internet for a few weeks and hanging out at BB, Frys and Audio Concepts trying to get a feel for what I like, and yes I would love to get some D-Techs, or something with a little more punch, but I put all my credit cards on hold last year and I need play a little careful until the economy changes. I've never heard an SVS product, but I know they get good reviews and have great SW. They do push the envelope with s/h, but if it's a "true" step up I could manage a little play room. So I've been thinking about these:
Polk RM510 5.1
Bostion CS 2310
SVS SBS-01
I did hear the Paradigm "Atom" 5.1 system, and liked it alot but there distributor doesn't offer 36 months no interest (credit w/o interest is always acceptable) or I would be putting those trinkets in my living room right now. I have been tempted to start with a Polk 3.0 refurbished set-up (I can afford about $800 right now).
Thanks for any input,
