Now this is nice to see.

Rarely are a manufacturer's goals and compromises the same as the enthusiast's, so the true long term potential of a bass horn will be unlocked by enthusiasts. I already see some good work being done to minimize the ragged FRs, gain extension, and bank on corner loading. This is the right path.

I'll stand back to watch and learn a while longer and then perhaps try my hand.

I thought I would add some info about phase here as well.

A normal/od horn should have a 90deg phase shift over its usable passband. This can be -90 to 0, or -45 to 45.

Here is an example:
Normal horn, single 15" driver w/ 15-80Hz bandwidth



It is also possible to get a pretty flat impulse response:


EDIT: Another note:
The Auto Phase in the program sometimes picks the wrong delay settings. Take your raw horn path length and convert it from cm to feet. Then check the delay time. There should be a negative second for every foot.

If it is way off you can manually set the delay of the phase graph in the tool tab.

I don't have hornresp in front of me now but I did mess with it for a very few minutes last night. Is there any way to change the distances in the s1, s2 etc into inches instead of cm? Or a horn program that let's you use different values?

Not that I was able to find. I've been trying to get used to it - I do my wood cutting in metric anyway.

Heh - I've been in Canada since I was seven years old and I'm still having trouble with the metric system. Mostly from converting back and forth.

That reminds me - there's a fantastic freeware unit conversion program called Converber floating around out there... I don't know what I did without it.

I was using v23. I downloaded v25 last night but didn't get to play around with it. If the game gets out of hand tonight I am going to try a few more drivers. The lab12 is a staple and also pretty affordable. Once I get a good base with the lab12 I will start looking at bigger better drivers and see if there is some killer unknown combo to use in size and driver.

Seriously - there are 28.32 liters in a cubic foot, so 115 liters ~4 cubic feet

I love the Google calculator and unit converter. Type

3 ft * 125 cm * .01 furlongs in cubic yards

into the search engine (note the keyword "in") and it returns

(3 ft) * (125 cm) * (.01 furlongs) = 3.00743657 cubic yards

How cool is that?

It works with fractions too.

45 7/16 inches * 28 1/4 inches * 15 7/8 inches in liters

((45 7/16) inches) * ((28 1/4) inches) * ((15 7/8) inches) = 333.9241 liters

As they say, "Build it and they will come". If someone were to build the first DIY in floor THT, I can only imagine the line that will be in front of the home that has it and the admission that could be charged to hear it! I almost want to say... I DARE SOMEONE, but I know better. Someone would...and then they would be liquidating their gear to pay for the divorce!
