After a solid few hours of trying different software versions, even WinDVD 9 which supposedly works, but didn't for whatever reason, I found TMT3. Apparently it doesn't overtly list support for HD-DVD (ie it's not listed in the features, or ANYWHERE on the site that I could see), but I did find a thread on some forum where someone said it's still coded in the backend. And, luckily, it is. There's no HD-DVD icon like there is for every other format, but it did load up my HD-DVD. Didn't output audio, but I'm pretty sure there's no DD+ decoder in the trial. As soon as I confirm that, I'm going to purchase TMT3 Plat - really nice player. All after I had 3 of my HD-DVDs all converted to 1080p MKV. :P Now I won't need to waste nearly a TB storing them all for playback.
