I am upgrading my plasma display and a/v receiver, which I've been using for 6 years along with the Bose Acoustimass 16 system. With my improved system I plan to watch more movies (i.e. blu-ray) and also probably listen to more stereo music which is where I know the Bose have always been lacking. But my rear L/R/C speakers are already installed on the rear wall of my listening area and I haven't felt that the bass response of the Acoustimass system has been too bad...so I am considering just buying new Front L/R/C speakers (connecting them directly to the new receiver), and keeping the bose for the subwoofer and rear surrounds...
1) my wife wants to avoid large free standing-speakers (hence why we got the Bose in the first place) so she is suggesting in-wall speakers. thoughts? I don't see many choices and they seem a lot pricier than equivalent free-standing speakers.
2) Would I notice that much difference in the bass and surround speakers, if I were to replace whole system (which will then be more $$ for a new subwoofer and Rear R/L/C speakers)...
3) If I do keep the Bose for the sub and rears, will I have a problem with the fact that any new Front L/R/C speakers will have much better bass response of their own?
thank you for any thoughts...
