Samsung HL67A750A1 FAN 3 Error

Thread Starter
This morning I got a check fan 3 message. Looking through the internet, I find people with similar issues but with no results and/or not enough details. My tv was purchased 14 months ago, so no warranty, so I more then likely am going to do the repair myself.

Ive identified 3 fans inside the TV, and the one in the left side is not moving when TV is powered on. Looks like an easy enough replacement, but I am looking for confirmation I have the right fan identified and maybe input from someone who has dealt with this issue...

Thanks

Update

So "FAN 3" is located on the left side of TV. It is the same exact fan type as "FAN 1" which is located on the opposite corner (middle back of sliding tray).

With only a Phillips screwdriver I removed the back panel and sliding tray. Remove a few cable connectors so you can slide tray out. REMEMBER WHERE THEY GO AND HOW THEY CONNECT, BUT YOU ONLY NEED TO REMOVE 3.

I swapped "fan 3" with "fan 1" and the fan did not work, and when I turned onTV, I got a check Fan 1 instead of check fan 3.

If I wouldve received a check fan 3 still, then I would imagine I wouldve needed a bigger fix, and I wouldve ran down my street naked...anyways...

Samsung Part page that kind of helped:
http://www.samsungparts.com/search/s...&division_oid=

Picture of the fan and you can order it here as well but I have found it cheaper:
http://tigerdirect.partsearch.com/Pa...Number=HLS4676

I hope this helps someone in the future. I found people paying 200+ dollars for a repair which can take 10-15 dollars a screwdriver and twenty minutes or less. If someone needs to ask me a question ( I am not a tech guru, but I can do quite a lot), I probably wont check this thread or a private message here, so email me at bjn_74@yahoo.com and make sure in the title you put Samsung Fan or something....Thanks

So what is the part number of the fan for the LL67A750 since the Tiger Direct part states it is for another (older) Samsung DLP. The Samsung parts page shows different fan part numbers.

The part number for the fan that covers Fan 1 and 3 problems is G6015S12B2

Just ordered mine, get here Wednesday for 20 bucks total...

CWC Group is a Yahoo store front. They have the G6015S12B2 fan on sale right now for $10 (reg $17). $10 for three day shipping isn't too bad.

http://www.cwc-group.com/g6015s12b2.html

I will post when I get it installed.

I replaced the fan in the TV with the one I purchased from CWC. It was the correct size and power rating, but the connector was wrong. I needed to do some wire splicing to get it to work with the connector I cut from the old fan. It was very simple to splice the wires, just match up the three colors and seal with some electrical tape.

After I got it installed everything worked fine. Thanks bjn74 for your original post. You save me about $200!!

Also as a side note: The board you need to remove to gain access to the fan has several large capacitors, and a transformer on it. Be very careful not to touch the bottom of the circuit board as you might discharge one of the capacitors. Trust me, it's very painful. I simply moved the board around by grabbing the sides of the transformer that were coated in plastic.

My set had been making an awful racket as of late, no error messages though, so I decided to go ahead and open it up and see which fan was causing it. Fan No. 1 (back-center of the set) judged by the "check fan no. 1" message displayed after disconnecting it was horridly clogged.

Long story short, I removed the fan, cleaned it.. and couldn't remember which was it was facing, haha...!

Here is a picture, could anyone be so kind as to clear up whether I have the fan installed correctly, or backwards? I've been unable to find any images..

Sooo.. label in as I have it, or reversed to label out?

Thanks,

Bonehead

I have a Samsung HL61A750 and I ordered two fans from CWC as one of the fans has become noisy. I tried cleaning the fans and then applying silicone lubricant but the noise came back although it is not as bad as before. My guess is that the ball bearings have gone bad. My only concern is that the part numbers from Samsung and CWC are not the same.

It is my understanding that the wiring harness connectors may be different but the fan is the same for fans 1 & 3. It is worth it to me to order from CWC and save some money but I just want to make sure that the fan I am getting is the same as the fan I am replacing. If someone could give me some insight regarding this then I would appreciate it. Additionally, if the wiring harness is different then what do you recommend as the best way to connect the new fan to the old harness. I would like to avoid using a soldering iron. Thanks fro the help.

I'm in the same boat as tiger parts direct came back a week after I ordered stating that the part is no longer available, in the email it stated I could call them for help finding a substitute part but I haven't had time yet.

Found the fan available on PC loft, a yahoo store, http://www.pcloft.com/c19831.html

Ordered and will report back.

I installed my new fan today from CWC and now the noise is gone from my HL61A750. I had to switch out the plug on the end since it is a different connector. I used some of the small red barrel connectors and crimped the ends making sure that all of the wires were matched up to the same color. The entire process was simple and straight forward. I also had to move the board that was in front of the fan. That board is secured by two screws and then can be slided out.

I got my fan in from PC Loft today and it too has the larger connector but correct volts/amps ratings, so I will get what I need to splice it together tomorrow.

Thank goodness for this thread. Fan #3 error this morning. I swapped fans 1 & 3, and now get a Fan #1 error. New fan will be here tomorrow.

Fantastic Thread!!!!!!! Saved me a heck of a lot of money I ordered 2 fans just in case the other one goes out. Fan 3 was bad so I went ahead and swapped 1 and 3 so I could easily install fan 1 when it gets here.

Thanks a lot OP!!!

Cheapest I could find: http://store.cwc-group.com/g6015s12b2.html

Hey guys. I suddenly got a "Check Fan No. 3" message today, and now my TV shuts itself off after a minute.

I've read this thread and it sounds like you can't order the correct fan any more. I am not at all comfortable with rewiring/electrical stuff. Am I screwed, or do you think if I called a TV repair person they could get the correct fan and fix it?

Oh, by the way, this is a HL61A750, which as far as I know is essentially the same TV as the 67" version. Thanks.

Update: I was able to take off the back of the TV, locate the fans, and find the one that wasn't spinning. With some difficulty, I took it out, and swapped where it was plugged in with fan #1 to see if the fan itself was broken, or if the actual place it plugged in was bad. All 3 fans then worked fine, magically. I carefully put the TV back together exactly as it was and it is working perfectly now. Who knows what the problem was, I'm just glad it's fixed!

Hello everyone. Sorry to revive an old thread, but this is the most helpful info on the net regarding this fan problem.

I have a HL61A750A1FXZA. Love it. Never a moment's problem over 3 years, until the whirring sound started about a 4-5 days ago. Last night, the "check fan # 3" message came on, and naturally it shut down a few minutes later. Rinse, repeat twice.

After reading this thread last night and today, I moved it to my bench and took the back off. Although, I still don't know which fan numbers are which, all of them are working now. I'm assuming (correct me if I'm wrong) that the one turned parallel to the front and back, and in the middle, is #2.

That leaves the one sorta in the left-center and closest to the back (it sits by itself at an odd angle, just left of #2) and one kinda hidden up in the far right side. These two are the same size, and the one I'm calling #2 is slightly bigger and in a plastic box. My view is facing directly at the BACK of the TV, fyi. They are somewhat dusty, but not nearly as bad as I've seen in computers, etc. But the main thing is now the whirring sound is gone, and the "check fan #3" message is gone, even after leaving it on 30 minutes. I have done nothing but move it, and take the back off.

So, my questions are: 1-Can anyone tell me which fan number is which, for future reference? 2-What would you use to clean the fans (other than a clean cloth)? Thanks so much for creating this thread!
I finally caught one of the fans not working. Cleaned TV and left it on for hours, with no "check fan 3" warning. Then I put the back on the TV and the warning appeared again. So, while the TV was on, and the warning message displayed, I took the back off again, and sure enough the fan on the far right (facing the back of the TV) was not working.

So, now I know that the fan on the far right, which is somewhat hard to to see and reach, is fan #3 (if you are looking at the back of the TV).

I hope I can find one locally, so I won't have to wait 3-5 days to get a new one. If I do have to order one, I want to get the correct one that will plug right in (no splicing).

Would appreciate a current recommendation of where best to purchase this fan, locally or online.
Thanks.
For others in the future who have the "check fan #3" warning.

This fan plugs right in without splicing. I bought the other one, also, just in case #1 fan goes out. If #3 goes out again, I can always splice it to the correct connector.

Get the one that says "3 pin latch connector". Hope this helps. It's from CWC and costs $16.95

Since this is only my third post, it won't let me post the link. I will try again.

I just ran into this very problem so thank you for this thread... I do have a question though.

I noticed that the linked replacement fan has a short (about 4 inches) power wire set while the original fans I see have around a 12-14 inch power wire length.

Does anyone have a link for a correct fan with proper wire length??

As for my quick fix... I removed the 10 rear panel screws and then removed the two "slide" panel screws which allowed me to slide out the main tray to get at fan #3. I then found that fan 3 had a common issue of being "dirty" and unable to spin.... so I removed the rear sticker and added a small amount of WD40 to the center axle and then manually spun the fan until the lube worked itself into the fan allowing it spin freely again. After that I replaced the fan and all is well again.

As a note though, this type of fix usually only lasts a short time (a week to a couple of months on average) so I'd still order a new fan ASAP... but at least this will get ride of the "check fan" message and allow you the use of your TV while you wait for the new fan.
Oh and just to be clear...

After removing the back panel and while your looking at the rear of the TV...

Fan #1 is the smaller fan at the center (left of all the other fans)...

Fan #2 is the larger fan that's just off to the right of Fan 1 and is embedded into the "black box".

Fan #3 is on the right and behind "black box".
Any chance someone can post pictures of fan #3?

I see a small fan as soon as you open the back cover and fan #2 is larger fan near the light bulb.

Is fan #3 behind fan #2? What do I have to move to see fan #3?

Also what is the size of fan #1 and #3? Is is 60mm?

Thanks for any help.
so by having to splice wires, which I have no idea on how to do, does that mean that there is no longer a correct part for this issue...I as well have the no.1 fan issue...

awesome...took me no more than about 15 minutes...it was easier since mine was fan #1... a few pieces of grunge keeping it from spinning...works perfect...thank you!
