Yamaha HTR-6250 with Xbox 360

I recently got a Yamaha HTR-6250. Everything seems to be working fine. My blu-ray is working properly, and my computer, etc. The problem is connecting my Xbox 360 via component video and optical audio.

Connecting directly to the TV I can get 1080P no problem, everything works beautifully. When I connect the Xbox 360 through the receiver I can only set the xbox 360 to 1080i and get a picture on the TV

If I set the Xbox 360 to 1080P the screen goes black and in the signal info the video data is as follows:
In Analog 1080p
Out HDMI ---
Message Out of Res.

After looking up Out of Res. in the manual they define this as "The connected monitor is not compatible with the video input signal." I'm not totally sure what this means as my TV (Sharp Aquos 52") is capable of displaying 1080p video and the receiver already pushes other 1080p video through to the TV.

This has been frustrating me for days so if anyone has any insight that would be greatly appreciated.

Does the Xbox not have an HDMI port?, use that instead. Otherwise possible conflict with component to HDMI upconversion, even though theoretically supports it. Support of 1080p on component video is flaky in the video world. Try turning off the internal upscaling in the Yamaha, in other words set to through. It will still upconvert component to HDMI as the upscaling is not needed since well you have it set full blown to 1080p in the xbox. Note: if the xbox has 1080p/24 option do not select that yet. Just 1080p (or 1080p/60) just in case the Sharp does not support the 24fps feature. Also, in the receiver, turn off any Deep Color and X.V. color options as they may also present a conflict. Just to cover all bases. But, seriously if the 360 has an HDMI port, please use it. It's much easier. Are you using HDMI with the blu-ray?

Newer Xbox 360s have HDMI ports but the older ones do not. I have the receiver already set to throughput the provided resolution to the TV as the TV is way better at upscaling than the receiver is.

As for the xbox as far as I can tell it doesn't have the option to go 1080p/60 or 1080p/24 it just has a 1080p option.

I also don't see any information in the manual or playing around with the receiver on turning on and off Deep Color and X.V. Color

The Blu-Ray player is connected to the Receiver via HDMI and running 24FPS

Thanks for the info, I'll have to see what else I can find cuz this is really got me bugged.

My suggestion would be just run the optical to the receiver and component straight to the TV. It's only a minor inconvenience to have to fumble with selecting an input as well on the tv, but the bonus here is most likely you will have video settings (like Game) set exclusively for your xbox on that input you use for it and have a different video adjustments on other tv inputs. Before HDMI this was the preferred method to set up a home theater system, running analog video connections straight to the video display, digital and analog audio connections straight to the audio system.

I've got the same issue with a Yamaha RX-765. Old school XBOX with component and no video to the TV over HDMI. I'd like to have everything over one cable but I guess two is not the end of the world. Does anyone else have this working?
