Need universal remote for Philips 3575

Hi,

My Philips 3575 remote has died. Can someone suggest a universal remote with decent size buttons under $100 and what is the code for the 3575?

I have a Philips PM435 universal remote that I tried but never could figure out the code for the 3575 - could be user error.

My tv is a Samsung LTP266W.

Also, what type of device should I select when programming the remote - it's mainly to use for recording and playing from the hard drive?

The RCA RCRP05B ($20 at best buy) controls the philips 3575 using DVD code 1340.

I've purchased the RCA remote and programmed the DVD button with 1340 for the Philips. The 3575 will power on but the channel up and down buttons aren't functioning. I'm doing something wrong and can't figure out how to reprogram a key? Would you mind telling me the steps to reprogram a key?
00194 is channel up and 00186 is channel down?

I think I've figured it out:
Press the device key on the remote (i.e. dvd)
Press and hold setup until it blinks twice
Type 994
Press setup
Type 00186 (channel down code)
Press the channel down key

Glad you figured it out. That's one way to do it, but you may have also been able to just turn off channel lock.

Use the same steps you did for fixing the channel buttons to reprogram any key.

Turning off channel lock was the first thing I tried.

Yes, you certainly can get the original, but it's 2x to 3x the price of a universal, and that's not counting the $8 shipping charge. The URC-8820N also works the same as the RCA I recommended and is only $15 on amazon with free shipping. If you're going to spend $60 on a remote, you may as well get something decent like a harmony, which also has every function from the original remote and has nice labels for them all on its LCD.

Recently I purchased a GE 24950 for under $15 at Target It contains a code that will control the Phillips but also has learning so you can teach it from your original if it is not completely fried.

The logitech remotes should work as well if you want a slightly better one.
My 880 was able to be programed online through the account I have on their web site and it can also be taught any missing commands while your online setting it up as well. I think most of their better remotes have the capability to be programed online just like the 880. You set up a free account then enter what device you want to control and it programs the remote through s USB cable, after that you can double check that everything works, rename things, move functions and buttons around, add new commands from the original remote if you have it, etc.

My Remote Control is good for my DVD. And I bought it about 3 months ago. The description sated it's compatible with most brands, including RCA, Thomson, Sony, JVC, Magnavox, Emerson, GE, Sanyo, Zenith, Philips, NEC, Panasonic, Hitachi, and Samsung. You could see if mine is also suitable for your Philips 3575.

I'm sure many, many universal remotes work with this philips. What's unique about the RCA is it can be programmed for absolutely every command without having to learn from the original, and it's cheap. None of the other's mentioned so far have both those attributes.
