Keep in mind none of these sets are shipping until August. A lot of things can happen in 8 months. Impressive none the less.

Nice step. I'm still waiting for the 106" OLED 3D 960hz panel for under $5,000. That's my next upgrade, I think.

yeah but with local dimming LED they'd be jet-black and might just blend in with the TV frame rather than looking like unused screen.

I think he meant normal "front projection"... ie a screen on the wall and a projector. We're not talking about the weird one-piece CRT front projectors with the curved silver screens you remember from the sports-bar.

I decided to skip the 3D entirely and go directly to 4D

Now you can go forward or backward in time. That would be something.

Remember when the 40XBR3 first came out? It was around the same price as this 72inch Vizio. That was only 4 years ago.
vizios don't typically go down in price... maybe 100 off, margins are slim as they are. If this was a sony... it would be least 10k.

hell yeah!

this 72" sounds ORGASMIC.

i'm so glad i didn't purchase the 551xvt! i'm so getting this if the price does indeed stays (or below) 3500

72" is the 65".

incredible.

i love technology.

Based on Vizio's history, don't bet on it being available in August. Nov or Dec would be more likely. This announcement must have put a lot of pressure on other TV makers. I'm looking forward to seeing one.

Vizio has been widely available at the big-box stores like Walmart, however, it seems clear to me that Vizio intends to try to restrict the type and number of outlets for these models.

In industry words:

"It will be interesting to see if the XVT Pro Line - combined with its band name popularity - vaults Vizio into more custom and specialty showrooms.

"Vizio is still determining how it will select dealers for the XVT Pro Series and how it plans to make consumers aware of this exclusive line."

Since when is Costco a "custom or specialty showroom"??
all I can say is WOW
and ......I WANT IT

the 72 inch that is
I do hope that the Purplish frame they show is NOT going into production
post #81 of 1447
I wonder what effect the release of the 72 inch $3500 LCD will have on the release (and pricing) of 65 inch plasmas?

Did you not read the last sentence? It is still determining how it will select it's dealers. They aren't referring to the Costco's etc. but High end Electronic Stores.

Other than "I do" at my wedding, this is the most serious statement that I have made in my life: "I will own that 72" the first day it is available."
SEVENTY-TWO inches.
Awesome. A 72" LED LCD TV that I can actually afford.
Might as well call this the porno tv...because its way bigger then anybody needs but we all want it

The 72" for $3500 was the most impressive to me. Check out the link for the full run down. I was all set for the 551XVT this year but wow is that a tempting price.

Why would someone want to watch Tv in realtime? The capability to watch 2 HD inputs side by side would make more sense.
I wish they would dump all tuners and all analog connections and lower the price some.

looking deeper, looks like i will be skipping the 2010 VIZIO line of 72 inch TV'S and will hope 2011 will provide what these 2010 are lacking listed below

hdmi 1.4, these tvs will have hdmi 1.3 and that will not produce TRUE 3D

No Advanced True Wide Polarizer

no usb 3.0 for thumb drives that could also use 2.0 devices

MASSIVE FAIL
