Nothing yet! I promised myself I wouldn't use them until the project is done.

It's a big tease every time I go downstairs to work on it.

Excellent progress, and that is some beautiful wood you have there. Are you going to leave in clear, or do you have a stain in mind?

Thanks! I plan to stain it, but I'm looking for a color similar to my cabinets that will bring out the highlights of the wood. It don't want wash out the detail with stain.

Any ideas?

I can't help you with stains - my experience is too limited.

I'm at the point I need to make some decisions on the theater area. I'm looking for advice on a few items.

Receiver:
-Needs to be 7.1 or 7.2 in the $300-$400 range
-Needs to have minimum 3 HDMI inputs and video upscaling for ALL video sources to go out the HDMI.

I've found a couple Onkyo's that fit the bill and a few Sony's. I currently have a Yamaha RX series but its only 5.1. SQ with the Yamaha is excellent.

Projector:
-Needs to be 1080P
-$1000-$1400 range
-HDMI input of course

I was set on the BenQ w1000 but am scared of the rainbow effect I keep hearing about

Screen:
-Not being picky here, but needs 92" diagonal fixed frame
-want to be around $200

If you will be staining to match to an existing shade;

1) Use some scraps and experiment
2) Make sure you are NOT using stains that contain a sealer, this makes it almost impossible to darken with a 2nd coat
3) I would check into stains available at a paint or woodworking store. From my experience many of the stains at a bigbox store contain sealer. Although I like MinWax products, I avoid their stain for this reason.

This is going on the far left side of the bar and will be above the CO2 tanks in the cabinet below.

Probably 18x18 and maybe 6-8 inches deep.

Anyone have ideas?

I picked up this cooler at Target for $20, http://www.igloocoolers.com/products...oClassics/307/ going to build an enclosure for it and mount it behind the bar, but haven't gotten to that part yet.

Look at the Pioneer 919 model as well should fit, but not sure on upscaling. Most PJ's would upscale though so not sure why that is a requirement since they would be better at it.

Don't know the PJ to get in that budget -- $1,999 and I would say the AE4000, but that is more than you have. Maybe an AE3000 slightly used can be found. Should definately be in that budget

Owens Corning is who made the ledge stone that I used (cultured stone). Their website has step by step video instructions. I have to admit it was NOT as easy as it looks. I had a hell of a time getting the mortar to the right consistency. My first layer fell off!! After I got the hang of it, it goes a lot smoother! Be patient, it took me 6 hours!

To cut it, I used an angle grinder with diamond wheel.

Good idea, but not quite what I had in mind. I'm tempted to just get a small black plastic storage bin and wrap it with styrofoam.

Thanks for the recommendation on the pioneer. I'll take a look.

I've settled on the Epson Home Cinema 8100 for the projector. Reviews are excellent and will work perfectly with the 92" screen and 16' throw. Has lens shift too which is nice.

Made some progress. The ceiling over the main space is done. I got the Energy rear surround speakers installed. The projector mount is done and I am really pleased with the finish-- I was able to use a desk wiring grommet to fit tightly around the part that comes through the ceiling tile. Looks very clean.

Screen and Projector should be here shortly!

I actually got it on ebay. I only paid $155 shipped for it. brand new, factory sealed.

I contemplated the DIY route, but at this price its damn nice. It has a heavy aluminum frame with velvet overlay. Its much more professional than I could have done. The tension system works well also.

Making progress!!

The projector is HUGE. I took a picture beside the Denon 1910 and it is bigger! I didn't expect that. First impressions--- Outstanding image quality. Lots of tweaking options and quick set up. I'll post in action pictures once I get everything permanently set up.

Back from the depths!

Finally got the bar top, rail, drip trays, and trim completed. Starting the staining/sealing this weekend. All the trim work is just about done and I had to reorder a couple of cabinets for the kitchenette.

Pics to follow!

Did you use any kind of vapor barrier behind the walls? Or, just paint the cinder blocks and put up your framing with r-13 faced insulation?
