1080p Converter

Hi all!

I have a 50 inch Samsung HL-S5086W tv. It has the rear projection DLP with 720p display format and I wanted to know if there is a device I can buy to make it 1080p. My tv has the HDMI connection on the back. Below is the link to my tv specs:

If there is a device to convert 720p to 1080p, is there really an improvement while watching a DVD movie or a Blu-Ray movie?

Any advice on where to buy something like that?

Thanks for any help!

You can't alter the native resolution of an HD tv. There is increased clarity having 1080p on a 50" tv, but if you upgrade to a blu ray player, your movies will look much better even on a 720p. DVDs won't look better on a 1080 vs a 720, they don't look great on either, blu ray does.

Watching blu-ray movies on this tv looks quite excellent. I just wanted to know if the picture quality would improve if it can be converted to 1080p.

Thanks for your advice!

Now you can't change the native resolution of a fixed pixel HDTV. Think of it like a freeway sign it has a fixed number of rows of light bulbs and eacn row contains a fixed number of bulbs.
Certainly 1080p blu-ray content will look better on a 1080p TV since have of the 1080p content has to be deleated when it is downscaled to 720p.
