@ D-Nice

Thanks for the calibration reports!

I have some questions:

Are you sensitive to "Phosphor Lag" (aka decay time)?
If so, could you watch out for a shorter decay time on the G20 vs. the S2?

Or do you already know, if the G20, V20 uses the same Phosphors as the VT25 Series, although Panasonics claims otherwise?

Interesting picture....
But why the G and V series have the same rated contrast then?
Is it the difference between their "infinite black" for G and "infinite black pro" for V?

Nope and I hope I never pick-up that "sixth sense"

I've already answered a similar question yesterday. I choose not to answer this because it seems as if I will hurt some member's feelings.

The problem with this new cell structure is that a dead/stuck pixel will be REALLY obvious now.

The panels could still have the same contrast ratio since the filter on the front of the panel cuts the peak whites to the same degree as the blacks.

Perhaps the G series is brighter as a result.

It also makes you wonder... if the trick to achieving great blacks (not saying the G doesn't have them... as we have seen from D-nice the S series has them with respect to last years models) is a simple filter, it is a shame that all the lines don't have it.

Than it seems that V models will be less bright.

My living room is basically all windows on the wall facing my screen. It's not bad but based on what I've heard about the VT25 so far and the subtraction of glass... Anyone wanna buy a week old 65v10 (I'm only partially joking).

Just noticed one neat feature in the European G/V models - USB HDD Recording
Don't see it advertised for the US models. I wonder if US versions will have it.
That is pretty much the TIVO capability out of the box.

Samsung did the same kind of marketing with their Series 8 plasma's having the "Ultra FilterBright Plus" feature.

I saw that but I've been assuming that is a nono in the US market

Well, I just took the plunge and plopped down full price at BB down the street for a 50G20. Will be in my hands this Wednesday the 3rd.

Why am I so anxious to get my hands on one?

Because I'm buying it with tax refund money, and if I don't spend it quick, the wife will.

is it likely, that the new 2010 Panas will have this purple touch in the filter, like the non elite Kuro 5090 ?
Does a black filter not produce black crush ?

Please let us know how it looks in day and night viewing.
Also, can you please take some pictures of it including the new fully backlit remote.
And can you confirm if the G20 has the Pro Settings menu option or not.

Thanks

The US specs page is kind of short and unfinished compared to the EU one.
Oh well... we will know soon.
Is there PDF manual available for the US models yet?

Absolutely. Will probably put up a full unboxing, if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Scroll down several pictures and the good stuff appears.

Here is a nice little picture showing the panel structure of the 2010 G and V series.
Notice how much darker the V is compared to the G.
I assume the S and lower models are shown on the far right. No wonder they can't produce blacks very well.

Based on this, it's a no-brainer to go with the V Series.

I suspect that the darkness of the filters are intended to be illustrative and not literal. Just as the cells are not quite that big

That would be awesome.
Us poor Canadians have to wait a lot longer so any eye candy will help ease the pain.

D-Nice, is the Z1 AR filter the same as infinite black or infinite black pro?

I don't think so because the crappy filter on the far right is about what my TC-P54S1 has.

The VT25 is quite pimped out with the chrome trim and bronze bezel.
Nice detail on the stand as well.
I kinda like it.

Sure won't miss the big ugly power button on the front.
