Oh... well, thank you!
I don't know why it is good, or even if it is
good, never having investigated this sort of phase display before.
The system is Krell FPB 350mcx and KCT pre fed by a Benchmark DAC1-HDR. The speakers were bought in 1998, unmodified, still performing well.
The original chart is from REW, with the "unwrap phase" option selected.
The only correction (if there was any applied) was with a Behringer DEQ2496 Ultracurve, that would have been providing some boost only below 35hz or so where the bass rolls off. No special treatment in the room - drywall, carpet, couch, one corner is open to a larger area.
The measurement was not made with a "measurement" microphone, but with a Tascam DR07mkII handheld, analog monitoring the mic and sending to motherboard soundcard.
The microphone was at the listening position - about 10.6 feet from either speaker, both speakers active.
(quote) Rythmik - " The phase plot shown above is just too good to be true at high frequency range."
-- If referring to closeness to 0 degrees, I "moved" the display to center it around 0. Can adjust in 360 degree steps +/-. If referring to flatness, I don't know. That's the result at the 10'6" measurement distance
The wrapped phase display:
Here's a plot I found at http://www.hifi-forum.de/viewthread-72-4653.html
"Speakers are 2 B & W CM9 ...Width ca.6, 4m length about 6, 0 m height and about 3, 0m distance between the speakers about 2.65 m (middle) and hearing / Measuring distance about 3.7 m."
The size and distance is similar to my setup. I suppose this is more normal. Maybe it is the effect of crossover in the mid/upper range?
My single cross is at 180hz. It's a separate low-pass for the woofer, and high-pass for the panel. They don't interact electrically.
By the way, the reason I'm posting here is because I am considering buying a Rythmik for the rest of the bottom end. Having trouble deciding between 12" and 15" despite all the reading of this thread and the Rythmik site. The objective is music. The system does double duty for the TV, but I'm not of the HT mindset.Edited by RayDunzl - 10/4/13 at 4:45am
