Okay so IV been breaking in my new lv12r for a little while now and I'm ready to give a couple ppl including the wife a good demo and start to "PUSH" the sub a little more. My question is how hard can I push this without causing damage. I don't listen to much music like rap or dubstep or anything with long ongoing deep bass, I'm more looking for ht demoing where the lfe would be strong but realitivly short.

Just put my order in for the F12. Wife’s not a 100% happy but when she hears it that will change.
They no longer make the honey oak box even though they still show it as an option.
Going to buy it, it says its $874 but when it goes to your cart the price drops to $787. So on sale??? Can’t wait to play!!!!!! biggrin.gif
I’ll start with davef setup settings to boot.
These settings are a good starting point for getting the maximum performance from your Rythmik
subwoofer.
The recommended initial setting with HT:
0) Low pass switch set to EXT/12 (not 80Hz/24).
1) power voltage set to 110-120v (for US, Canada, Mexico)
2) PEQ (Parametric EQ) set to Off
3) PEQ Gain doesn't matter with PEQ set to Off
4) PEQ Bandwidth doesn't matter with PEQ set to Off
5) PEQ Frequency doesn't matter with PEQ set to Off
6) Delay adjustment set to 0 (will be adjusted from HT receiver).
7) Crossover adjustment set to max first (then gradually dial down for best integration).
8) Level at 12 o'clock to begin with. Gradually move it higher to balance sub with front speakers.
9) Extension filter switch: 14Hz
10) Damping switch: high.
9, 10 can trade off max extension vs max output. If one really likes to play loud, he needs to set to 28Hz/low
damping.

Let 'er rip. So long as you aren't trying to make anyone's ears bleed you're ready to have some fun... smile.gif

Nice thanks Jim! I can't wait to get home and really put her to the test! Is there any kind of protection on this sub? If I did play it to loud will it just stop itself or a

Everything has it's limits of course, but the LV12R seems to handle them with grace; so far I have only gotten it to make unpleasant sounds with one bit of electronic music. Beyond that it seems well behaved.

No, I was replying to a really long post about how Brian went above and beyond and helped out a guy who blew his amp and driver on a F15HP. The post I replied to totally vanished confused.gif

Not at all-congrats on the new sub. I felt the same way when I got my first Rythmik, and also when I got my 2nd smile.gif.

I'm just wondering what happened to that long post I was referencing...

The post is at the end of the previous page (if your posts-per-page is set to 30).

It's a good post.

I had (as many of you I'm sure) gone through the threads and evaluated what you could about each company and it's product line. In the end I had the FV15HP and the HSU VTF-15H on my short list. Obviously I went with the Rythmik. Here starts the story with a quote from my build thread.

"Well thought I would come here and drown my sorrows. I was doing some demoing in the theater watching the AVS Demo Disc 2 by Scubasteve and was going between How to Train Your Dragon, Cloverfield, and WOTW, I normally do my demoing at -19 or -18 (Yamaha Aventage 1010) and tonight I was listening watching at -14 or -13.5. About half way through the WOTW demo I noticed the lack of the sub. I stopped the clip and heard a loud humming coming from the sub and then I could smell an "electrical" type of smell. I quickly unplugged the sub to eliminate anything else going wrong/bad. I then called Rythmik to see what had happened. Brian (Rythmik sub guru) actually answered the phone (how's that for CS) and I described my tale of woe to him. He requested I send off an email to him and I included a few photos of the amp to show how it was set up. He said he would take a look at everything and see what he could come up with and would provide some suggestions on how to check to see if it is the amp or speaker driver. So as soon as I hear back Brian I'll keep all of you updated.

Sitting here in a puddle of my own tears...........lonely and subless. The horror of it all......................................

I never realized how empty the world feels without LFE."

After looking at things Brian determined that my driver was shot and he was also concerned about the amp. He requested I ship the amp to him so he could check it to make sure is was in proper working order or if there was something wrong it could be fixed. The only thing he requested was I pay for the shipping and he would cover the amp repair (if necessary) and replace the diver at no cost to me. Needless to say I was very happy with this arrangement. I shipped the amp to him and upon his inspection he determined the power amplifier module was bad. Brian did not elaborate on if the blown driver caused the amp issue or if the amp issue caused the blown driver. Either way it was repaired. Brian fixed the amp and sent it back to me along with a new driver. I couldn't be happier with the way the situation was handled and I feel this is a testimony to how Brian Ding and Rythmik feel about and handle their customer issues. This is what customer service it really about. Kudos to Rythmik, it's a great company with a fantastic product (but you already knew that didn't you).

Thanks to Brian and Rythmik I am now happily enjoying my sub again.

Regards,

RTROSE
OMG...did the WOTW kill your FV15HP? Isn't FV15HP designed to handle this awesome bass track? If the FV15HP can't play WOTW at decent level (reference level perhaps), I'm worried too.
We dont really know what caused the problem, for one thing , as we dont know the size of the room,

well im not going the rythmik route(atleast as of now). not to happy with the customer service at all. i have been chatting with enercio back and fourth and we just cant not make a deal. after going back and fourth over the options i decided the 1 f25 is the best option for my 2 k budget instead of dual f15's, simply because it will have the most out put on the smallest foot print. however enercio said they can not ship f25's at this time due to the weight. i said well pull the drivers out and ship it seperately. he declined the offer....all i can say is the economy must be good in texas because around here most companies will bend a bit to make a 1500.00 sale. rythmik didnt seem to care if they sold me a sub or not...so back to shopping around i go.

You could put one F15 on top of one another and it gives flexibility in the future to locate them in different positions when space allows. F15 is a lot easier to move around compared to F25

true but i would spending 4xx more dollars for -4db less out put.
I would try to PM Rythmik, he might be able to find a solution to the problem and clear up the issue of having the F25 on the site when there are current issues with shipping, UNLESS the shipping issue just started and the site has not been updated

reflecting on this I am leaning toward a second F15: same as the one I have F15 with H550PEQ amp: I don't see that listed as an option so will have to ask

I assume the FV15HP has auto-on feature?

I read your above to be, the wife likes things to be symmetrical. I've read several times that symmetrical placement of subwoofers, equidistant from the main listening position is a bad thing. Asymmetrical placement will give better sound wave distribution. Do you have room measuring capabilities? If no, there's no way you'll be able to gain maximum benefit of any subwoofer system, you install in your listening venue.

From personal experience, I've found, for our room, a third sub is needed as opposed to one or two and based on all the graphs I've seen posted in the many threads on AVS, most here would benefit from a third or fourth subwoofer which will even out bass sound waves and create a larger, smoothed, listening area so all can get decent subwoofer sound, not just the person who happens to occupy the MLP.

(The wife's listening position, a few feet to my seated right, is terrible by measured comparison but lucky for me, she doesn't know she's in a terrible location or otherwise, we'd have to switch seating positions) tongue.gif

Personally, if possible (the budget will allow), I'd recommend keeping the FV15HP and pickup an additional pair of Rythmik, E15's or go with one E15 with an eye on a second one at a later time when the budget will allow for the adding of another E15.

-

mine is a single F15 with H550PEQ amp sealed

both subs would be in asymmetrical corners of the listening area

I looked at several photos of other members setups and saw similar layouts: subs flanking the mains

my HT is over 3 car garage with carpeted floors and vaulted ceilings: room acoustics are pretty good

so I am tempted to try a second F15 sub : wife still likes the symmetry...

Well the F15HP arrived. And a bit bigger than expected. Surprisingly my wife simply shrugged and said "ok. Will it make the music better" :-). Now I need to get a subwoofer cable and start setting this up.

For reference that is a JTR T8lp next to it.

Don't be worried, I truly do not know what "killed" my amp/driver. This was not my first go around playing these clips, and prior to this the sub handled these scenes without complaint. Did not post to "scare" anyone, actually my point of posting was to alleviate anybody being "scared" because if anything happens Brian/Rythmik will stand behind and support their products. This is a good thing.

Agreed, Brian did not elaborate on what the issue was, so until he tells me what he believes caused the problem I will not go on speculation alone. He follows the forum, and he chooses to he can chime in and give the technical aspects. I won't comment as I'm not qualified on the technical issues.

My room is approximately 13.5 w x 20.5 d x 7.5 h there is about a 6 to 7 foot opening into an adjacent area that is about 8.5 w x 26 d x 7.5 h. More on my space can be found on my build thread if one is so inclined to do so.

Awesome, enjoy your new baby. The size is surprising even if you know the dimensions of the things. They are beasts, but in a good way of course. I did not tell the wife how big my sub was, I just let her find out when it arrived.

I can confirm the FV15HP plays WOTW with authority. I've watched that scene several time on a single FV15HP and duals. It demands a smile; guests give the "OMG Holy Schisse" kinda responses

RTRose thanks for sharing your Rythmik customer service experience. Lots of solid CS stories ITT, I have a lot of respect for how Brian runs his company and stands behind his products.
