I showed you its not and provided detailed on why. You now shift to how can we trust THX or the makers they are doing the tests and once tested don't change the unit tested. I will leave that upto the other readers of this thread to decide how to read you original comment.
Your logic seems to be this :
The car model : BMW X1 was tested by NCAP for crash tests. The results are 5 stars.
A car dealer states : "It's just another marketing gimmick in my opinion.".
The logic from the dealer is : it doesn't mean jack unless they drive YOUR BMW X1 against a wall.
Somehow i doubt many parents will see it this way, they will prefer cars with higher NCAP values. The issue of trust of BMW or the NCAP testing people is a whole new area you can discuss but you have to come with some proof that either THX doesn't perform tests or av-makers changing models (cheapen) to sidestep the process.
