One out, 7in. There is some info from CEDIA on this site.

Hello All,
Can anybody find out what kind of DACs are being used in these receivers?
Howdy,

I've been watching this thread for awhile, pretty convinced the MRX 500 will be my choice for my new HT setup.

Question about 3D: I'm not planning to purchase a 3D display (really not that interested in 3D at this time), but I do like that these receivers have the capability if some day I want to go there. So my question has to do with the different types of 3D sets coming out (glasses required, no glasses required, etc); Are there different 3D formats? Will all 3D capable receivers be able to drive the different types of displays coming out? Is there any difference in terms of the content (i.e., Avatar, etc)?

Just want to see if the Anthem's are somewhat "future proof" in the 3D area - not that anything truly is...

Heks, I doubt that anybody can answer your question as these receivers have not been released, and the data sheets claim a future 3D firmware update to be forthcoming. Please do not hold your breath waiting.

I do not understand this 3D clamor at all (& I have no interest in it), but if you are interested in it, simply purchase the Panasonic DMP-BD350 Blu-Ray player with dual HDMI outputs to go with your 3D display of choice. Make your decision to purchase the new Anthem Receiver, or any other receiver, based upon the presently existing SG & PQ.

Video processing is managed by the legendary Genesis/ST® Torino high performance scaling engine.

If it is the same chipset as in the UMC-1 I would only hope that Anthem's implementation is done correctly (I'm sure it will be). It would be kind of cruel for former UMC-1 owners that buy the 300/500/700 and the chipset does have the same issues as with the UMC-1 (no real pass through).

Well bummer, though I could still consider one of the lower end models and a separate video processor the primary reason I'm considering an upgrade is to simplify my cabling between my LCD and projector setups.

Is this the same Torino that came out in 2007 (FLI30436) or a new(er) one?

Yes, there are different ways to encode and deliver 3D. All 3D devices will be able to handle any formats that come their way. Will there be some poorly designed products that fail to do so properly? Of course, just as we see with any delivery format.

Yes. The differences in 3D display techniques (type of glasses, or not) is independent of the delivered 3D streams.

Agreed.

Any idea what DSP chips are being used? The umc1 has issues with the Cirrus implementation as well.

I was told it wasn't 'the old one that had a questionable reputation.'
A quick search leads me to believe that a new Torino chip came out around December-January.

The MRX has a "through" in the resolution choices as well as 1080p and 1080p/24.

Does anyone have information on the MRX 700 power rating at 4 ohms? I have magnepan 12s and MMGs that I would like to drive.

Thanks, allen

I don't understand why they don't have this on the D2v...

It would be a nice feature if we had that...

I believe it is 240 W into 4 ohms.

The Salesman at CEIDA told that there will be probably be no Pre/Pro coming in near future; however, the current pre/pro can be altered (yes, hardware alternation) along with firmware upgrade late Q4 or early Q1 at service centers... they will retrofit four of the the HDMIs and replace with new ones supporting 1.4a.

FYI: I put up two images of the MRX GUI on my Flickr page (link in my sig).

glenn, you R da Man!

These initial screens show the promise of a new straight forward user friendly GUI. thank You, Anthem.

How about some additional internal Screen shots of the GUI? (you knew we were going to ask for more, after such an early morning tease)

It is very easy to use. Navigation is fast from screen to screen. There is an easy setup choice for video and audio which gets you started quickly. You can fine tune after.

I see that the 500 has a ethernet port for internet radio. What pc files will be supported? There's been no mention of the networking capabilities as yet, unless I've missed it.

That's one pretty OSD/GUI. Looks very intuitive, and clear.

Is there an iPad app for these receivers?
Anyone know when the manuals will be online to view? Looking at the MRX-500. I specifically would like to know the voltage of the subwoofer preout. I need it to have enough signal to drive my pro audio amp for my sub. My current Yamaha is spec'd @ 2v. The current higher end Yamaha receivers are only 1v.

Crestron, Savant, and Control4 modules are just over the horizon...

Any word at CEDIA regarding the MRX-900? What is its advantages over the MRX-500/700? What will its power output be at 4 ohms with at least 5 or 7 channels in use + Bi-Amplified? When will deliveries begin?

Do these AVRs have IP control or just RS-232?

I really liked the discussions that I had at Cedia about the mrx500. However, I didn't get any solid info about what is inside the box. Did anyone? In particular,

what DACs are being used?
Can the amps be turned off, or would I be better using the anthem amps instead of upa7

The MRX only have half of the ARC adjustments that the standard ARC has (because it only has one dsp). ARC does not make any adjustments above 5kHz. Can someone point me to a comparison of audyssey v. ARC?

ARC does this because any FR issues above 5kHz can only be addressed effectively with room treatments.

So are these receivers going to give up much when compared to a D1 I wonder. The oversampling would seem to be the difference.
