Connecting PC to projector using DVI-Component cable

Hi
I have a HP media center slimline PC 3500t , which I want to connect to both projector and TV. My PC has both HDMI and DVI port and am using HDMI to connect to the PC which is working fine. I also have a component wire running from inside the wall to the projector which I want to use to connect the projector and PC.
I tried using a DVI to component cable and connected it to my projector but having some issues with it. I only able to get a resolution of 640x480 which doesn't work for me. If I connect my DVI directly to TV , I am able to get higher resolutions too.

How can I get a higher resolution using DVI/component cable ? Since my component cable is already running inside the wall to the projector , don't want to use a new cable.

Thanks
Anurag

Have you consider an hdmi switcher or splitter?

Did you tried setting up your media card output resolution/type etc. With component you should get 720p.
