I just purchased a C7000 and returned next day for a C8000. The Edge light is just too high on the C7000. I am still not happy with the C8000 and i am considering returning it for a non edge-lit TV. There is always an effect on Horizontal letter-boxing that does not let you enjoy a perfect dark room screening. Surprisingly the C8000 with the supposed local dimming does Vertical letter-boxing (4:3 format playback) perfect (something that the C7000 does not), but still fails with the Horizontal letter-boxing. The bottom corners emit a light that is distracting.

C7000 issue with some light, in dark room it's even more noticeable. C8000 has same issue but only in dark room and i really don't understand the difference from Edge Light to Edge light with local dimming, it has no Effect on Horizontal Letter-boxing.
I have some pictures that i will upload but Edge lighting is definitely a flawed technology. I regret buying it... I am still considering retuning it for a different backlight tech, unfortunately there are no 3D Led that do not use the Edge lighting. I wonder if Sony's Edge light with local dimming work better than Samsungs???
The flaw is only visible on a dark room with the C8000 but with the C7000 it's always visible. It's VERY hard to detect this on a store that does not have a dark showroom.
I am so disappointed that a 2K (40'') television set has such basic lighting issues. I am depressed with my purchase instead of jumping on happiness and enjoying my expensive purchase.
I have a bunch of Samsung products (Digital Cameras, Laser Printers, LCD computer monitors, etc...) and this is the first one that i can say i am disappointed with and also the most expensive.
