Edit: I've sent back the B630 and opted to receive the C630 next week. Just happy to be getting the nice new form factor and saving a few bucks along the way. Thanks HopeInHim for the sage advice
No problem, thanks for the thanks
My question about Amazon would be why did you have to pay for shipping to exchange the unit? I thought Amazon within the 30 day window paid for that. Maybe (free) returns/exchanges are only for items not functioning properly?
I ordered the 40. I think the difference is that the 630 has the matte panel (not the shiny UCP), so it has a reduced contrast ratio, which I'm assuming is 80,000:1 rather than 100,000:1. And it doesn't have all of the internet widgets, streaming, etc of the 650, which I can't use in my second room anyway.
I honestly haven't even seen the specs for the C630 but I think it's fairly safe to assume they're the same or similar to the B630. The C650 and B650 share near-identical spces. Anyone have the complete specs to the C630 by any chance?
edit: looks like the C630 indeed has a 80,000:1 contrast ratio, according to B&H photo.
With all the white noise/chatter surrounding products with specs not yet released by their manufactures, how can we be certain the C630 does not have the ucp? I tried to find that out in some form of official release but found nothing. So all related specs like contrast ratio all come second to the good old eye ball test.
I have the impression that the 40C550 (only one I've found info on) has ONLY HDMI inputs. Can that be right? No component, etc.?
BB comparison says "0" component and "0" composite. Amazon notes only "4 HDMI". Is that true?
I see nothing on the Samsung site about the C5xx at all....
This goes back to the white noise issue and lack of info. When I was looking into details of the C630, BB and Amazon both listed inputs as 4 HDMI and 2 USB. I thought that can't be right, and looked at the back of the unit to confirm what inputs the set had. So if you can't find a picture or official spec sheet on the C550, you cannot know for certain. But logic would say yes it would have component etc....
I just looked again and the price of this TV is pretty high. Is there any reason you'd choose this over a thin 7000/8000's LED?
Depending on the size and model (7000 or 8000 series set), the premium for an edge-lit LED can be more than double from what Amazon is selling the 46C630 for. My last stop at BB last weekend, I saw many issues with the B Led's. Maybe the C7000 and 8000 sets will look better. But at double
the cost? I will admit Samsung was not on my radar until I saw the C630. I was going to go with a Toshiba Regza 645U, and it was still going to be more than the C630 I have on order. I much preferred the Samsung seeing both at BB. If professional and personal reviews are positive after the consumer takes some time to digest this new C panel, it would be the performance/value leader of ccfl sets.
