Coop Games (Two people on a couch) for PC

Thread Starter
I'm building a HTPC rig using wireless Xbox controllers for the PC (no keyboard/mouse). I'm hoping to find games that work like 007 Goldeneye did on N64. Basically 4 guys in front of a big TV on a couch.

I'm confused about the term Coop. It sounds like some games support LAN or internet based coop but I'm only looking for split screen. Thanks!

Split-screen on PC games are practically non-existent. You'd be better off getting a Wii. Seriously, I can't think of a single one. Your closest bet would be a fighter type game like Street Fighter IV PC or Resident Evil 5 PC where each player has a character on the screen at the same time.

i'm interested in this also, but i really don't know of many PC games that have local multiplayer support...

most of them would be from an emulator....

this website is the best bet for local multplayer support...

Borderlands is good one for a Co-OP FPS.

Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 has unofficial splitscreen support.

Trine is a fun platformer that you can have 3 people play on at a time.

Audiosurf has a two person coop mode (I don't remember if it supports controllers.)

Ricochet Infinity supports single pc coop.

Flock! does as well, but I didn't like the game much.

You also could run an old N64 emulator and play the original Goldeneye.

If you find anymore please post them!

What? I think you didn't read the OP's post (or even the title of the thread).

Serious Sam "SD" has split screen but the lack of autoaim makes controllers hard to use. There are some ini settings that enable split screen for UT3 but I haven't tried it myself. If your old school there is a port of Doom that has 4 player split screen.

The LEGO games have multi-controller co-op, but on a single screen.

Here is a list of local co-op games. I don't know how accurate it is, though.

Many games, like driving ones for example, have split screen on the console versions, but it doesn't exist on the PC version. Very annoying!

Great post These are practically in the order I would suggest them too. Except the N64 emulator goldeneye combo ... That should be at the top.

Local multiplayer on a single screen/PC is almost nonexistent, even when LAN play is available. You have to remember that the PC gaming paradigm is one mouse, one keyboard per PC, and games are designed (or ported) accordingly.

Even the split-screen co-op choices on current-gen consoles are few, but there are a few big titles, like Resident Evil 5 and the Army of Two series.

This post sounds strangely familiar for some reason...
