Linux XBMC Database editing tools Availability?

Thread Starter
I've searched through this forum and posted a few threads which have been very well received it seems.

I started ordering my components for my Linux based HTPC build having been playing with the latest XBMC release on my Linux workstation.

One thing I have noticed is that the scraper for videos are not 100% accurate & I don't expect them to be.

In the Linux environment what tools are available to edit XBMC's database directly?? In Mediaportal for example in the setup app you can directly edit entries for Videos/Movies changing anything from the description to the graphic used.

In the windows environment there seem to be a few easy to use tools mentioned in the forums. What exists for the Linux environment?

They use SQLite, so anything that can edit SQLite should work.

Have you read this page yet?

http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=IMDb_%28Video_Library%29

I find it more efficient to correct the errors with a rescan from within XBMC rather than editing the db, but I think XBMC lacks a very useful feature that YAMJ (for the Popcorn Hour devices) has, which is the possibility to add a simple moviename.nfo file in the same folder as the movie file, containing the imdb URL of the movie (like this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt00XXXXXX/ ).

XBMC supports nfo files, as well. Check their forums.

I know it can export the db data to nfo files, but I haven't found if/how it can use them the way YAMJ uses them (basically to simply point the scraper to the correct imdb page). If anyone knows how to do this with XBMC, I'd most interested to know!

This might work in wine: http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=59800

EDIT: If not, the developer will probably release the sources if asked and porting to gtk should be fairly straight-forward.

I started working with Sqlite Browser & it does the job. Not a nice to work with as a real media manager but it works.

A Linux version of XBNE would be nice.

As mentioned, any SQLite editor works fine -

I've been using EMM (Ember Media Manager) to manage my movie collection for XBMC and generate .nfo files and it works great.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'd think that XBNE would work in wine since it doesn't appear to use .NET, etc. Also, there's a web-based (javascript) XBMC media manager WIP here: http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60643
