Best Keyboard and Mouse/Trackball - Whatcha got???

I just bought a Rocketfish (Best Buy brand) bluetooth mouse and keyboard. It was a pain to set up, the packaging was hard to open, and IT DOESN'T WORK FROM 18' AWAY. Maybe there are some settings I could change to make it better, but I am about ready to return it and try something else.

I have a IOGear Multimedia keyboard. Has a ball in the upper right corner. Runs off RF up to 33ft. I've only had it a week and don't really need to use it a lot since I'm able to use my remote to play movies. But when I need to update something or surf the web it's seems just fine.

So far my favorite is the Gyration Air Music Remote. Highly recommended!!! Think WiiMote in a RF/IR universal remote control.

I have an Adesso that I keep behind the couch, but recently I have just been using my iPhone with the Mobile Air Mouse ap.

Yes it does. You ipod touch and htpc have to be connected to the same network. I bought the pro version and it is well worth the money.

Yep I have this one. It does what it says it does. Battery life is great. Mouse pad is responsive as expected. Works with W7 64 bit.

Two negatives:

1) If you just want to use it to make a quick change or minimize a window that's fine but if you are doing some constant typing don't rely on it to be your full time keyboard.

2) Some think it feels a little flimsy but what do you expect for $49.00?

In short, it stores away easily and is great to make the one or two adjustments while using your HTPC. Just think if you were using a Blackberry that is to big to carry around in your pocket. Imagine the positives of having a keyboard to text on that is bigger than a Blackberry Keyboard and think of all the negatives.

The problem with the iphone Mobile Air Mouse app is that it only works in apps and windows recognized by the program. If i have a special utility running like Dxva checker or an OC tool, the mouse freezes as soon as I hover over those windows. there's also no way to keep iphone from going to sleep after the 20sec timer so whenever you pick it up to use, you have to wake it up and then wait 5-10sec for reconnection with the pc. After about a week of using it, i decided to go back to regular old mouse. Too much of a gimmick.

I use a btc keyboard with trackball, only $22 at geeks.com. Works great with my win7 media center and has media center keys (guide, info, record, play, pause etc)

I use the logitech mediaboard for the ps3 w/ a bluetooth dongle. has touchpad built in to the keyboard and good range. no complaints aboot it.

I also have the lenovo thing on order, so we'll see what that is all about.

this is what i use.. i have only used this for a week and to works well. Mouse seems to have some issues with Windows Media Center though

I have it. It is good. Flimsy but low price and does the job. It does not have any extra keys and no F1 keys. Sometimes it misses kep presses and loses connection - but the connection is easily brought back by tuning it off anf then on. If you want something small and low priced it is a great solution. My wife likes it. The new lenovo paddle looks very nice and is similar to this - it has a trackball which might be easier to use then the track pad. I am also using the logitech mediaboard for my htpc - nice price on ebay. It is bluetooth. The key presses are more responsive and it has a track pad which is a tad small but has a vertical scrolling line on the side. The only problem is that it is almost a full sized keyboard.

the mobile air mouse for the iphone is very nice - the only problem is that it is software dependant so you have to be logged in to be able to use it - use cannot post to bios or log into windows with it - so you have to have another keyboard for this lying around if that is something you need

I currently have the Adesso WKB-3000UB and I have to say I'm not too pleased with it. It doesn't get recognized by BIOS in my current HTPC system, but luckily I had a spare USB keyboard & USB mouse lying around that I could use to initially set up my HTPC (Windows 7 Pro).

I'm not sure if it's some settings that I have, but Win7 found the drivers & it works natively, didn't have to install any additional drivers, but what tends to happen is that the keyboard will seem to drop the connection with the receiver after about 15 mins of inactivity, and I will have to re-pair the connection. My HTPC sits about 10 feet (maybe) in front of me, and the connection seems pretty shotty. It often drops keystrokes, and I have a difficult time typing in any websites or passwords, etc.

I've been looking for a new wireless keyboard/mouse/trackball/touchpad combo all in one to replace this Adesso one. I've seen this one and it catches my interest, but does anyone have any experience with it? It's a Brando one:

It comes in Black & White & currently selling for $69.00 + $3 s/h (to the US) Just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this keyboard before I dropped $72USD on it. From an email I've had with them, they said the keyboard should work in BIOS, so that has my attention, but once again, I'm weary of any product that isn't "mainstream" (i.e. Logitech, etc.).

Logitech Di Novo - Probably one of the best keyboards i've used, it's so slim and portable. It really does have a nice battery life (I've went for a week without docking it and it was still above 50%). Just has little hiccups where the keyboard wont respond for a few seconds - this may happen every 6-10 hours (nothing too often). The touchpad isn't awesome but if you can't find your mouse, it's a nice savior just to get to a program. god forbid you try modern warefare 2 on it lol. If you want a keyboard you can leave in your lap or on the coffee table - this would be it.

Logitech Trackman cordless - There isn't many trackball's that are bluetooth, but this one comes with an RF extender - just make sure you always have a line of sight and your good to go. only other con for this is usually putting a battery into it every 2 months (if im not mistaken?)

I have the BTC. I like the design and look, but 2 things NOT good

1- the performance is terrible, barely get 8 feet away and start to lose connection.

2- NO scroll wheel, this is a dealbreaker if you surf the net with it (especially these sometime long forum threads )

I don't think it is still on the market, but I also have a nMedia "MCEKB". it is designed similar to the MS MCE keyboard, but RF with an optical trackball.

IMO, the BEST HTPC keyboard I have had was the "good ole" Liteon "Airboard"

Just got a new router and I think the wireless interferes with the RF units (can not even USE my Gyration remote now), would like to get back into IR.

Have you bought one of these? I'm really interested in this but there just isn't much feedback out there other than the review you posted.

Are there any single devices that are both keyboard/remote/trackball and can program other devices? I already have a harmony (and hate it) and don't want to have a separate keyboard. I was hoping something combined this.

The new lenovo keyboard looks great but I'll still need something to turn on my audio system.

I have the Logitech Di Novo, it's my fav since its so small yet has a qwerty keyboard and trackpad on it. When switching to Media Center mode I think the left,right,top,bottom buttons seem a lil off, I tend to hit the center button which is select/enter. Drives me crazy.
