I probably should have read the thread more carefully. It looks like the need is for part-time use on a Windows based HTPC is what most people need. So, a compact mini-keyboard and 2 button mouse solution like the Lenovo would be best.
For those who use a Media Center solution to do almost everything (TV, BD/MKV Movies, Music, Online Video Services); and, use the mouse occasionally, the below options looks really cool. Very compact shape, backlit keyboard with a learn-able media center remote control on the back side, and an exceptionally good 3-way gyroscope mouse builtin for only $20 on Amazon. It looks like it would be fun for 3D gaming too. I'm actually considering getting this for one of my SageTV extender in the living room.
EDIT: I just ordered one of these on Ebay for my SageTV extender. I hope it's compatible!
That's a bit much for me.
I have a $100 mouse and $130 keyboard on my desktop but for my HTPC I am looking for a good easy solution under $100 total for mouse and keyboard.
It's not that I don't appreciate excellence. I certainly do.
But for the HTPC it just won't get enough use to justify the cost.
Honestly ... I am just looking for something that will browse mediabrowser better than my Lenovo
