That is what they sell for everywhere.

I think this is probably true. There is dealer not too far away from me. When I contacted them about an audition, I was told that they don't keep demo units anymore because they can't keep any GoldenEar stuff in stock. They would always end up selling the demo units when everything else was gone. I asked if people were really buying them without hearing them first and they said yes. They added that they haven't had any returned either. So, if all this is true, they probably don't need to offer any discounts off of MSRP.

Other writers were equally enthused (Darryl Wikinson, Dennis Burgher etc.). Most listeners will probably pair it with the SuperSat 3 or our new, yet to be released, Invisa 525s. Thanks, Sandy

Hi Sandy, any updates on the Supercinema 3D array? I'm in the market for a passive LCR soundbar, I was set on the paradigm millenia 20 trio until i started hearing all the positive previews of the 3D array coming out of CES. Therefore i'm trying to hold out for it, any updates will be appreciated, waiting isn't fun frown.gif

Hi, The 3D Array is now fully tooled. We expect it to be available in mid/late September. All the Best, Sandy

So how did they sound? I've had them for about three weeks and I still cannot wipe the smile from my face. It'll have to be surgically removed.

I have had my Triton Two's for a good 6 mo. I listen to a lot more music these day. Love'em! Hopefully will be able to nab a set of Aon 3's soon for my surrounds.
I have read most of this thread and so I understand the basic differences between the Triton 2 vs 3. My main issue is there are no dealers within more than a 500 miles from where I live so going for a demo is not possible right now. My question is this: which Tritons?

I have a room that is about 2700 cubic feet; 15X18X10 feet in a dedicated Media room. I will be about 50:50 HT and music so I want towers for two channel music. I am in my late 50's so my music tastes are more modern jazz and very ltttle Rock; classic music and Oldies Pop are also in the mix. No games, no heavy metal and I don't need so loud my ears ring....at or below reference is plenty loud usually.

I am looking for a 7.1 system and am thinking about using the 50's but am concerned about the negative comments about the center speaker. Aon's might work better for the surrounds as I am not space limited and like the deeper bass on the rear surrounds and possibly as a center speaker instead of the 50C.

I have not yet upgraded my pre or amp yet but will most likely go with an Integra 80.3 or comparable Onkyo preamp and most likely an Outlaw amp 7700.

I will be building the room in the near future and we are in the planning stages (new house) so wiring runs and AC runs are now in the final planning stages.

I am willing to run a sub if need be and would like to keep my speaker costs under $4000 if possible. Lower is better to allow for the better amp.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Just out of curiosity what do people think I could get for a pair of used but good as new Triton Two's? I absolutely love the speakers but just don't have the room to use them in our new place and I'm thinking we're going to be here for a couple of years.

Bluvette,

How does your Emo gear handle the Tritons? I've got a UMC-1 with a MPS-2 myself. I am thinking of upgrading my Front L&R loudspeakers to the Triton Two. Thanks in advance.
Hi Paul, the Tritons are very efficient and do not need a lot of power to drive them. I use the XPA-2 amp, USP-1 Pre, XDA-1 DAC which is just awesome with the Triton Two's. Detail, clarity, of the Triton's kick azz.

I listened to the Triton Two again at my dealer this week, still really impressive. Does anyone know if GoldenEar is going to come out with an equally bad ass center channel? Also any thoughts on using a Def Tech 8080HD center along with the Triton Two towers for movies, not multi channel music.

Thanks.

I don't believe anything else is coming, what don't you like about the 50C?? You can use one Aon as a center.
I have the Tritons and the 50C. The Tritons break in period was 60-100 hours and you could definitely tell the difference once it was there. The 50C has a taken a little longer in my opinion. I think over the last few months my center has come to life a little more and is sounding better.

I am very close to purchasing the Tritan 2's and a 50C center. The 50C seems to get a lot of pro and con comments in the forums I have been reading. My system is used for about 90-95% HT, and some music. Probably more music if I get the Tritan 2s! My question is about how well the 50C and Tritan's handle the center channel dialogue that seems to challenge so many systems? The cons say the speaker is not up to the Tritan's capabilities, the pros say the system works great. I could use some real world support here. One of my issues is that I did not get to demo the Tritans with the 50C because the dealer did not have one at the time. I will certainly be bugging him to get one so I can hear it, but I want some owners to tell me their experience.

Also, I have an Integra DTR-20.1 (110W @ 8 ohms) and an Outlaw Audio LFM-1 sub. I want to put the sub in the back of the listening area room. It's a large room, about 15ft. wide, by 55 ft. long, with the HT system set up on one end. The actual listening area is about 12-14 ft. deep.

The other speakers I am looking at are Definitive Tech 8060-ST and the same model center. I like the idea of the powered sub in the center of the DefTech, but I love love love the Tritans.

Thanks in advance for your help and support.

I thought I read it somewhere last year that they would come out with some in wall speakers in 2012. I went to their website, no sight of in wall, did they get cancel or postponed? I am looking for true In-wall speakers, not ON-wall like the SuperSat.

Has the 50C changed at all from when it was first released? I am considering purchasing a used one, and I want to know if it is the same as a brand new one.

I am located in Maryland if interested and would like to hear a demo. Also, the only constraint on the 50C that I have is that it needs to "not be contained into a wall unit". The more open on all sides the more open/wide dispersion it will sound.

DyeLooper..thanks for the kind offer, but I live in Oregon. Might be a little hard to explain to the wife why I need to go to Maryland! My plan is to move my TV to the wall, and mount the 50C on the wall, directly beneath the TV. Anyone out there have experience with mounting the center above the TV?

My 50C is below the TV on my stand at this time, When watching movies I bring the 50C out to the edge of the tv stand for better sounds (Sounds contained when under the tv and back on the stand). I have placed the center channel on top of the tv pointing to the listening area and it sounded a lot better. this is what I will be doing but waiting to move it after the 55" comes in our house. I would definitely try mounting above the screen, sounds really good.

I have my 50C mounted above my television and it sounds great. I used one piece of foam weatherstripping on the bottom of the back of the speaker and 2 pieces (on top of each other) on the the top of the back of the speaker so It could be angled downward towards the main listening position. I used the foam to reduce the chance of vibration of the speakers.

That Looks Excellent! We need more pictures on the site. Going to mount mine on top when the new tv gets here.
I like the idea of going on top so the TV can be mounted lower. Nice setup.
Perfect, mounting below the screen and having a cabinet below you are just asking for problems. The sound is just reflecting off the cabinet, if you are going to mount below the screen don't mount it to the wall put it on a stand and move it out to the edge of the cabinet. Well done.. smile.gif
post #1379 of 1584
Here is my approach as I have just added the 50C to my system. It replaces a center that was inside the cabinet and due to its width needed to be set back several inches inside the cabinet. My mains have a planar tweeter and mid-range, so the 50C is a better match, and now being placed on top of the cabinet is at a better height and sounds far more open. It is definitely a big improvement. As others have suggested, it is at the very front edge of the cabinet and the height doesn't block the TV at all. Because I am using free standing main speakers, the center and the mains are now in the same plane and the sound image is great.
