Why don't you go over to the Salk thread and spare all of us your needless banter. Don't feel that you have to respond to this unless you need to get the last word in, which I expect from you. To everyone else, do yourself a favor and give these speakers a demo.
This is the exact reason I rarley post on these forums (check my history, go ahead, "trolling", really? You can't be serious!
). People not taking the time actually understand where others are coming from and what is "typed" here is why I don't like to point out things like the FR of the Triton II. Just goes to show that when people don't understand or just don't take the time to read, they often get defensive about what they are enthusiastic about. I read this forum all the time and see so many needless arguments because we all let our egos get in the way (including myself unfortunately at times).
First of all my name is Patrick. And what you "expect from me", really? I mean really? How much do you know about me, except "your interpitation of my posts and their intentions in this thread?" So please, let's not get personal about things when we don't even know each other nor have ANY history on these boards. One thing I know, is everyone on this forum is passionate about this hobby so we have much more in common than not. So I try to take everything written here with a grain of salt.
That said, if you go back and read the thread from the beginning, you will see that I actually posted on the very first page. Why, because when I first saw this thread, the music lover in me was very interested (not the business owner in me) by the very name of the speakers. When I heard it was going to be awhile before the speakers were going to be introduced, I just forgot all about it.
So the other night I saw it again, and found their website. Then I saw the specs. Still I did not post anything until I noticed MANY posters asking a legitimate question about a +/- 3dB figure from Sandy on the Triton II's. And guess what he answered quite a few other questions, in fact every other question I believe. But dead silence on the bass response question. Once again, I did not start the questioning on th FR (not even close in fact). My guess is Sandy was hoping the questions would just go away. So knowing that there was no way these slender towers could even meet a -6dB level at 16hz (the S&V lab results prove that), and that all the other members who asked the question deserved an answer, I decided to see if he would respond to my post. Pardon my French, but what the hell is wrong with that? Do you not see anything wrong with Sandy obviously avoiding the question like he did? I mean come on, we are all adults here. If anything, members with any self respect should be calling him out (as some did). Then, he gave gave his "full size anechoic chamber" response. I won't get into that again, because I already adressed that.
To this very post I have yet to have seen anyone admit to the simple reality here. I mean come on guys.
Fact is it is yours and mostly HiFiFun posts that prompted reply's by me. I am just like you or anyone else when they are attacked, I will defend myself, especially when I (again) did not start this.
I mean come on: "Why don't you go over to the Salk thread and spare all of us your needless banter." Was that really necessary Jason?
Since we are on that subject. Go ahead and do a search in the SongTower thread. You will find ZERO posts by me. I don’t usually post just for the sake of posting.
As to any alternative motive to promote what products I sell and install, there is again ZERO reason for me to do that on this board (and zero examples of me doing so). I do not sell anything over the Internet and my guess is there are very few that read these boards that even live within a 50 mile radius of my home business (which is the rough area I serve). Even if there were thousands, most if not all of them do not need my services, because they do this for a hobby and like to do it themselves, DUH!
Finally, you ask why I am "trolling this thread" in your words and interpretation of course. Because I saw members who were asking legitimate questions. and were being purposely ignored. Excuse me for sticking up for anyone here. Believe it or not there are plenty of "newbie’s" who don't know any better. So what if they go ahead and trust the main designer when he says they don't need a separate dedicated subwoofer with the Triton II's? So then they go ahead and purchase them based on the fact that they don't need a seperate subwoofer, get them home, plug in WOTW expecting their small to medium size room to shake as if they were right there on the street, and what do they get?
I tell you what "most" will get, and that is disappointed! That said, some will be fine with it, or live in a townhouse and can't turn it up anyway. Either way, no big deal to me. BUT, for the members that asked the question before I did, they obviously care and deserve not to be ignored when they ask the question.
Do you not agree?
I am so sick and tired of all the cynical members on this forum, who think everyone has an alternative motive.
Sorry I tried to help those who were asking a question that was not being answered. I guess this is what I get.
Almost forgot, you also mentioned "when you have no intention to ever listen to them or sell them, could it be the margins are too low for you?"
Other than another obvious attack, you were correct on only one point there. That I do not plan on selling them. And if you had actually read my previous posts you would know the reasons, which obviously have nothing to do with margin. Seeing how I get ZERO margin selling Salk speakers.
Then there were the few times I mentioned that I look forward to hearing them, not because I am interested in selling them, but because my first love is music, and by all accounts they sound fantastic! I guess you missed those comments too.
If questions were answered by Sandy in the very beginning, we are not even having this conversation. And this is what happens when someone just tries to clarify and explain the realities and physics of the situation. Still I was more than civil and respectful in my responses to Sandy.
It really is not worth it. And as I said before this is exactly the reason I rarley post anymore. Everyone always assuming the worst and jumping to conclusions. I have heard of some very knowledgable members stopping posting here for the very same reason. Too bad, because a lot of good information ends up not getting shared.
"Last word", you guys can have it. I have written way too much and way wasted too much energy on this. But if you want, why don't you go ahead and rip all the guys who openly ragged on the bass response specs. starting from the the very first page of this thread? (and in a much less nice way then I did)
I apologize for the long post, but I am not too concerned because I know those who will likely respond won't actually read much of it anyway.
Sorry, I shouldn't have wrote that last line. I really don't mean to stoop to the level of others and their snide sarcastic comments. But it bothers me when all I was trying to do was clarify and get to the truth and help some people. I realize members here really get ethusiastic about their new "toys" or potential new toys, but can't we just discuss the truth and science of this stuff without jumping to conclusions and getting defensive. I mean the truth is the truth. I have no problem with the fact that the SongTowers I own can't do much under 40hz, but so what? I don't need to get defensive about it. I have seen many "trolls" over my time here, but those are easy to identify as they have long history's of doing nothing but that. Again, that's not me and never has been. I am way too busy for crap like that! And I REALLY take offense when I am accused of it! As I am sure you would too!
