I own a Samsung SPH700AE pj. Its overhead, DLP and capable of 720p.
Been "good enough" for a while, had initial problems, but sent in, returned, and all well. Up front I had bought a spare bulb/cartridge as a back up in case I was in the middle of a Superbowl or New Years or Oscar night party etc....
PJ went on the fritz again, and I put off looking at it. Finally pulled it down, tried the new bulb, and BAM...all is good again.
Here's the question. I could order a whole new bulb cartridge, best price I could find is as shown:
http://bulbster.com/lightbulbs/samsu...a-p-11674.html
(and I could look harder, that was just one site for $228)
or, and this is the question... why not just search out the bulb itself, now that I have a spare "cartridge" I could mount it in...the problem is identifying the actual philips substitute.......
http://www.replacementlightbulbs.com/lampuhp105390.html
For example has several to choose from...and again, it was just a quick search, I rather suspect I could find the bulb on its own even cheaper.
Thoughts from anyone? Am I just being too cheap over $30 to $50 possible savings? Would "close" be good enough....
(yeah, bit of a noob, haven't been around lately) Alex.
