In fairness, their spec doesn't say +/3 db at 18hz. Actually, it doesn't say what the +/- 3db point is at all.

Though I agree, a frequency response should be from it's +/-3db point in a anechoic or quasi-anechoic test. Not many companies do this though. Even some ID companies provide the FR that is in a room. I.e., one well respected one does it in teh middle of a 4000cuft room. Probably somewhat closer to quasi anechoic, but still must have some possible room gain and some boundary gain from the ceiling?
BTW, it is possible that the sub has a tad of output at 18hz when placed in a corner in a closet you know. Geez, you guys are so cynical.

I like the way it looks & hopefully the way it sounds. The A2-300 was just to big & bulky for the location I have in mind.
