Wow Wardsweb!!! Very nice job on those DYI speakers. (Wish I had talent like that). What in the world are those objects on the rack and by the speakers all glowing pretty blue and everything? Where ever did you find them? I like glowy blue things.

Thanks, it will become even better soon with a new ceiling (for better "internal measurements", build in a bass-trap, making the ceiling diffuse a little and make it darker), and all the equipment will go in a cabinet.

This is my living room set up for 2 channel. I just added the new Rotel integrated amp and I'm loving it. My wife loves the system too and likes the speaker grills OFF. She's a keeper.

ssabripo, A suggestion, toe-in the speaker much much more.

Nice gear, nice looking room, but poor setup. Toe in might or might not improve imaging, but moving them out left and right certainly would. As would getting rid of that hard surface (coffee table) right in the middle, some room treatments, and a seating position farther away. But most of us have to make compromises in our setup.

Well I don't have a dedicated 2-channel system at the moment, but here is what i've got.

The other speakers in Drew's bedroom are the Plutos and are also designed by Mr. Linkwitz.

For me it's all about being unassuming and low key. I don't want it public I own a kick ass stereo. So some friend of a friend tells another who tells someone else and next thing you know I come home to nothing left but wires. My vintage stuff cannot be replaced.

My setup is a sleeper system. I have a hidden sub. Small speakers that are highly modified. I'll put my sound up against anything. I'm not trying to impress anybody with looks. I just have to have good sound.

Here's my vintage 2-channel setup.



Turntable;

Marantz 6200 with an Audio Technica AT90 Cartridge mounted in a Marantz headshell. - This turntable was manufactured between 1976 - 1978. I replaced the belt and will eventually have to replace the needle. But for now, I simply enjoy spinning the wax.

Receiver;

Marantz 2252B - This was manufactured between 1977 - 1979. This beast is rated at 52x2 @ 8 ohms 65x2 @ 4 ohms of tube like power. I really like the look, feel and sound of this piece.

Speakers;

Pioneer HPM-100 - These are a 4 way, 4-speaker Bass-Reflex loudspeaker system designed by Bart Locanthi and his team of ex-JBL engineers who designed the famous L100, 4311/12 JBLs and then went to work for Pioneer. These beauties were manufactured between 1976 - 1977.

*Not sure I like the cabinet. But it fits the vintage look, I think. Keeping my eyes open for something else that might grab me.
