Let's see pics of your stereo setup! - Page 13

KevinZoe: Resonance and reflections.....you've done a little more than the others in here. (Not taking away from what everyone here has.)

Both towers happen to align best with my demo room using those particular drivers. (Based on the power to be used and the required bandwidth of 35-20kHz on the large set and 40-20kHz on the small towers.)

I haven't had my sub designed yet. Most demos are done with the interim subwoofer disconnected, just to squeeze out the last "wow" when they find out there was no sub. That the whole experience came from only two speakers and an amp that fits in the palm of your hand. I might need to incorporate a toilet into the listening position chair!

Oh, and thanks for the welcome! Though it'll be a while before I can return.

Here is what I use for stereo. I use the "pure" mode on my pre/pro which disables the sub outputs and tone controls etc. The Mcintosh drives the ribbon section, a B&K drives the woofers. I use an integra dhc-80.1 along with a jvc turntable, an Audio Request server (flac), a wadia ipod dock, an oppo 93 for cd's and a Sonos zp90 for music sources

Certainly not as new or as high-end as most of the systems in this thread, but if you like aggressive music it does not disappoint!

All mid-late '90's gear...

Harman Kardon PT2500 Preamp
Harman Kardon PA5800 Amplifier
Onkyo Integra 6-disc CD
JBL SVA1800 Speakers

Its all been moved to/from 5 different homes, from OH to MN and finally to FL, and it has managed to deliver an aural assault averaging 40 hours a week for the past 14+ years...

Yes..., that is Avenue Acoustic.

It's chinese made speakers I guess and it has no website. The only website that shows the speakers is:

Avenue Acoustic Signature One

The sound is amazing for the price about $500. And it's good enough to be compared with Harberth P3ESR at the showroom.

Music only system in my den.....

Longshot from the elevated kitchen...I generally move that chair around for critical listening, not the most ideal setup, but it's still gotta function as a room...so I hear. (setup has been changed around since this photo)

Setup as it is currently

Onkyo TXSR707 as pre and bass management - Denon POA4400 amps -NAD T515 disc player - PSX1000 (DAC modified) - Monster HTS3600 - Emotiva a100 (for setting up other speakers)

Closeup of one of the classic POA4400's

...And....after seeing it, pm'ing Ctantra and doing some research, modified the OP section of the Playstation SCPH1000 and added it to the mix.

Wow... Nice system you have there.

Did you get a chance to listen to the PSX before output stage mods? Which do you like more?

Why don't you just short the safety switch instead of putting a weight on top of it. Do have any specific reason? Hahaha...

I have an embarassingly large collection of vintage video game paraphenalia, and was able to listen to the modified 1000 and the original 1001 side by side. There is a difference in clarity for certain.
When doing a comparison of the newly modded unit and the NAD player, my wife much prefers the playstation, as it has a smoother sound, rounding off the harsh edges of some recordings.

As far as the switch...why didnt you? ;-)
I actually have ordered an aluminum case to build this into, and have yet to decide whether I will be putting a lid on it or not.

I totally agree with you. Eventhough I have a music room with high-end stuffs, I can still enjoy listening to the music using SCPH-1001. It has unique sound character that makes me want to replay my cd collections, over and over again.

I also have 4 psx to play with 1000, 2x 1001, and 5000 with different DAC chip. My favorite is SCPH-1001 (AKM4309AVM DAC Chip) and SCPH-5000 (AKM4309VM) even others claim that SCPH-1000 has the same sound quality.

As for the weight on the switch, I like it because it reminded me much of CEC-TL1 top loading cd player. I had to put the weight on the top of the cd each time I want to play music with it. It's a nice "ritual", isn't it?

2ch setup is

carver m500t
KEF 900 floorstanders
maratnz sr5005 as a pre amp
western digital WDTV full of flac music
samsung blueray for certain dvd music such as the eagles hell freezes over I'm currently listening too
on the fence of adding a turntable to the setup for 2 ch.

Im sure it sounds quite good, had a pair of the KEF iQ9's before switching over to maggies, and i liked them alot, my wife wishes i still had them and is always pressuring me to buy another pair for setup in another room.
