Electronic dart board recommendations?

I'm just wondering if anyone can give me some advice or info on a decent soft-tipped dartboard for my basement.

I'm only a casual player, so I'm not looking for anything extravagant. I'm looking for soft-tipped to (hopefully) avoid a wall full of holes from stray darts. Arachnid seems to be the way to go, but I'm looking for any information at all about any units, vendors, or accesorries.

We always prefer coin-op games - both for their rugged reliability and appearance.

Are you looking for an Arachnid home game or a sure-nuff Arachnid coin-op game?

We bought our Cougar Valley dart machine for $200 via craigslist. It always draws players and comments and is indestuctible and takes up just a little space as it stands so close to the wall.

The guy had two and our 27 yr old son has the other one and it is a big hit with his friends.

Thanks for the information.

To be honest, I'm not sure what I'm looking for at all. That's why I'm asking!!

I like the look of the freestanding units, but there doesn't seem to be a lot to choose from. As an alternative, I was thinking of getting just the Arachnid board and then purchasing a dartboard backing board behind it.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for Cougar Valley machines. I've never heard of them, but they sound solid.

Where are you from? I have a board in my basement I probably wont use. I dont recall the name, but its a great board and its attached to a very heavy black cabinet. Located in the Metro Detroit area.

As for dart boards, the link below will take you to my thread (post#662, page 23) and what I did, Short story:

- Started out with an Arachnid electronic board,
- My FIL made a cabinet for use in our last house
- I then recessed the cabinet into the wall
- And as this post shows, I made a "quick and dirty" friction fit, removable wall protector for those occasions when the munchkins come to visit.

Here's my $0.02 worth...

After getting a wall mounted electronic dart board for the basement, I soon discovered that it was louder than I would have liked when the wife and kids are in bed for the night. So I decided to buy a metal tip dartboard, but use soft tip darts. It might sound goofy, but it actually works great! Try it, you just might like it!

Looks great! I ended up going with a very similar setup. I bought an Arachnid and a cabinet similar to the one in your pics. Fantastic idea with the Q&D protector. I may just steal that idea.

I'm located in southern MA, right on the Rhode Island line.
