Choppy DVD playback in WMC 7. Please help, I'm totally confused

When I play DVDs through Windows Media Center the playback hiccups for a second (video and audio freeze but only for an instant). This might happen 2 or three times during an entire movie, but regardless I want to fix it. Everything is hardwired (not sure if all the ethernet cables are gigabit but I wouldn't think they would be necessary) and all drivers are up to date.

My setup looks like this:

Movies are stored on HP Mediasmart home server EX485 (Windows Home Server) as Video_TS files
The server is hardwired to an Airport Extreme Router which is also hardwired to a Dell Studio Slim 540s. HDMI from the Dell to a Denon 3808ci receiver and HDMI from that to 56" Samsung DLP (720p). Both HDMI cables are 6ft.

Specs of the Dell:
Windows 7 64-bit
Intel Quad-Core (Q8200? I think...)
8GB RAM
Sapphire ATI HD 4550 - 512MB

Specs of the server:
Windows Home Server
Intel Celeron
2GB RAM
3 HDDs all 7200rpm (about 3.5TB total)

I know that this seems like a throughput issue, but I'm surprised that I'm having trouble with DVDs (I don't have any blu-ray ripped) and only at 720p! Is there any way to determine where the hang-up is happening? I thought that my computer and hard drives were plenty fast to handle this so I'm really confused why I'm getting this stutter.

Since your audio also freezes make sure that you have the latest drivers for your audio chip/card installed and that your MOBO Bios is up to date. The audio is decoded and played before the video so if the decoder stutters with the audio the video stutters also.
If you play a DVD with MC using the computer's DVD drive do you also have stuttering?
If you bypass the receiver do you also have stuttering?

Your potential throughput is fine, but this doesn't mean a NIC/driver/router issue isn't causing the hiccups.

As mentioned, I would play the same movie off your local hard drive to rule out the server/network as the issue. If you still get hiccups then you should update audio/video drivers.
