How to get video from USB on w5100

Thread Starter
I recently purchased a w5100 and have been trying to get video from the usb port from my usb hard drive, but have been unsuccessful. When attached, no video is found in the folders....anyone know how to make this work? I hate using my xbox connected to the tv to play usb video....

Thanks

Its quite simple but YMMV.

As long as the USB flash driver is formatted in FAT/FAT32 (not NTSF...) and its a supported format, it'll show up and you just play it.

Biggest IF is the suppported format or how the movie file is encoded. The Sony user guide info is too general (and useless)...just says MPEG.

The W5100 will actually play different formats depending on whether it's from a DLNA-compatible media server on your network, or on a USB drive.

Look in the W5100-dedicated thread. People there were posting the results of their "experiments" on media compatibility with the W5100.

Yea...it will play various formats. But there is not official list. Now, its all trial and error.
Sony's documentation is very slim in details. Samsung on the other hand lists out exact format/codec it supports.
