Thank You! I'm thinking that's why BBB/Magnolia is "unloading" them for $3499 ea.???

Here's another pic, just to put things into perspective... with the "DYNAMIC" mode, (factory settings) - which should normally be very bright... understandably "incorrect" coloring, shadowing, etc... and it STILL looks extremely dull!!

Not every TV is pleasing to everyone and like I had originally posted in this thread you should have gone with the one you were pleased with to begin with.

With your history of returning TVs and having a hard time finding satisfaction, buying a TV (Sony) sight unseen and no reviews to read seems like a huge risk to take but good luck.

I know it does sound risky to me too... but Best Buy told me they will deliver it, and I have 45 days to decide which I like better... so that's what I'm going to do... I'll post some comparison pics as well when the time comes...

In the meantime, a Sony rep told me this morning that the new 2010 TV's have a Bravia 3 - new processors, that puts it in a whole new league. $3499 is the introductory price for the 60" 240mhz model and then they are going back to their normal price of $4999 - so he says...

In any event... I'm glad I have the opportunity top compare - in home... pretty cool. (Silver Premier Reward Membership benefit they said)

Assuming that it truly looks that dim in person, and it's not the camera mucking things up, then something is wrong.

Below are a couple pictures of my 111FD before I sold it, taken on a sunny day with the blinds open and all of the lights turned on. The TV is in calibrated ISF-Day mode. Dynamic is significantly brighter still.

Yeah, Your pics look gorgeous! I would be VEY happy with that TV... my TV looks exactly as pictured...

Only thing is my TV is not an Elite... doesn't matter right?

In terms of peak brightness, I don't think so. The Elites have a better anti-glare coating (similar to the 860), but that helps to retain blacks and color performance, and not so much bright whites. The Elites in ISFccc can get brighter post-calibration, but that doesn't apply to your situation.

To be honest TBird, I don't think any Pioneer is going to satisfy him as he started off making the same comments about the Elite at Magnolia. Best to let him get his Sony and hope that it makes him happy. Not everyone appreciates what the Kuro can produce and nothing wrong with that as that's why they make different flavors.

Actually, I said it was dim, yes... but the Blacks were definitely the Blackest, followed by if not equalled by the Samsung 860... The pics of that Elite posted are incredible, and I would be VERY happy with that TV. Maybe the Anti-Glare screen really makes that much of a difference in Sunlight?

Just spoke with my cousin via email... he has a Sony XBR9... and he said before making that purchase (he REALLY is a tech-geek, and proud of it) he was concerned with the Edge lit LED's, but he mentioned it is only an issue if the screen is on with no source playing (the black screen looks blotchy) but also mentioned it's not an issue when something is playing...

I'm not partial to any brand, or technology... I just want bright whites, black-blacks, and true colors. I think that's everyone's ultimate goal, however, it seems that you have to give up something in return for something else... I'm hoping the Sony will conquer all of those issues for me, but who knows... in the meantime, my 50" Panny in my bedroom looks awesome - STILL... The 2010 Panasonics may be the answer... but I guess I won't find that out for a while..

FYI, the Sony Bravia 3 engine the salesman referred to was available in this past years Sony so I wouldn't expect any miracles from it. How does BB have any of the new Sony's when the Sony website only has it for preorder and available late February? It doesn't even show on the BB website.

Buying a tv based on what the Sony rep said? Yeah, that's a great idea..can tell you've really thought everything through

They don't as of yet... Sony's site is screwy... yesterday morning, it said Feb 22nd... "Pre-Order"... then last night it said in stock, "Expected Ship Date" - 1/29/10... now it's back to 2/22... strange... Guess I'll be waiting with my Kuro watching mid gray's, & cream colored whites... and closing all of my blinds...

Maybe I'm missing something. In one post you claim you ordered one and then in another post you said BB is delivering it.

What am I on a witness stand? lol... I ordered my Kuro from Best Buy, so they are swapping it out for me when the Sony comes in... why so confused? Pretty simple lol...

and in another thread you also claimed you ordered one from Sony. How does anyone suppose to know what you are doing?

I think the picture he took is a fraud. That is not dynamic mode, even with an sd signal. even with the cheap camara, look at his carpet, is it that dull too? Where is the blue light in the left hand corner on the 6020, why is the picture so blurry? Take a look at the pictures on the Pioneer kuro pictures thread. Mid-greys and creamy whites on a 9g? This is a complete misrepresentation of facts.

Wow, people can have different opinions... that's fine, but you really need to get a grip buddy... Like I have nothing better to do than to misrepresent a TV that I spent $3500 on. How exactly would I benefit from a "fraudulent" picture of MY tv??? lol... and as far as what I "claimed" I did, was CALLED Sony to ask a rep about the technology of the new XN800 vs the XBR8, as well as the availability...

What is the point of this topic anyway? Do I have to prove my purchases and returns with the forum board members before you can give me advice? You are starting to sound like a bunch of wash-woman... get a grip...

In all reality, I could care less what anyone here thinks of my opinions or purchase decisions... I was coming here for technical advice and so far, I haven't received a single intelligent answer... people here are more interested in stroking each others egos like some wierd Kuro cult, than actually helping someone.

Btw, the DYNAMIC picture I showed a (cell phone) snapshot of was in direct sunlight. As I mentioned earlier, at NIGHT the TV looks magnificant. But it's absolutely useless in direct lighting to me... which I was told it wouldn't be and that it had just as good, if not a better anti glare filter than the Samsung 860 etc...

And a far as the Best Buy Magnolia calibration... I verified again today that they do use a laptop and they do unlock the ISF modes... It's the Legacy location in 33410 if anyone is interested in verifying my "claims"...

I will take some pics of the Sony and the Kuro side by side --- you know, the TV that I didn't order? Lol...

isf modes are only available on the Elite's and Krp's- not the 5020/6020. Check it out. And you need the "patch" to unlock the isf modes for the krp's. A patch has not been developed for the xx20. Can you post a copy of your receipt please.
They will unlock the ISF modes on your 6020, a TV that does not have ISF modes to unlock? It sure sounds like the person you spoke to knew what they were talking about.

But yes, everyone here is unintelligent. Bye bye and good luck in your endeavors.
Right, insulting everyone is a surefire way to get more help of which you have been given plenty by the way. Maybe I should go back and delete my useless posts in this thread.
Time to lock this one up. OP doesn't appear interested in getting help and would rather argue with and insult posters.

Do I qualify to get "real" advice yet?

Right... I'll just sit back and take insults without firing back. Unreal.

For some ridiculous reason, rather than giving me actual technical advice on what to do... I've been bashed many times because in my opinion a TV that I spent a decent amount of money on, doesn't look anywhere near as good as others say, or have proved with their pics??? Maybe I have a defective TV? Maybe I just have really bad luck with the TV's I've picked? Either way, insulting me isn't going to help me either...

I've been asked what modes I was using... I answered.

I was asked to post pictures... I did... and then some special person accused me of posting false pics...

This is just completely ridiculous and out of control.

I was asking for advice. I didn't come in here and say ALL KURO's SUCK!... ???

I even went with a KURO based on some of the answers to my questions earlier in this thread...

I love the Elite in the store.. even as of yesterday... maybe the Kuro isn't as good, like everyone told me it was ??? I don't know...

But not once did I claim to know what I was talking about from a technical point of view...

Not once did I say, NO YOU WRONG BECAUSE...

The ONLY thing Ive done is posted my experience from what MY EYES are seeing???

Whats the problem here?

get off your high horses and try and help, rather than insult, and I wont insult back...

Do (certain) people here have such insignificant, petty lives that they find the need to come in a forum thread such as this one to cause unnecessary drama?

I am a supporting vendor in other forums in other industries... and not once have I seen such a bunch of little girls.

I'm sorry if I have "insulted" anyone here (after I was insulted first) and I am truly grateful for anyone who HAS made an attempt to help me before others that have chimed in to just ruin the thread...

I wouldn't say it's a fruad but the picture is clearly not a very good one as everything is out of focus and fuzzy, not just the tv picture. Compared to the detail of tbirds picture, not only does the content on the TV appear sharp and detailed, so does the wall and the curtain next to the TV. In the OP's picture everything is out of focus so hard to say what his TV picture really looks like.

One doesn't have to qualify, one just needs to learn to accept it without blowing everyone off as it appears you come across as having all the answers when someone suggests something to you. Good luck in whatever set you choose.

How did I blow anyone off? I stated my opinions. I asked if this picture looked correct. That's it.
