Thread Starter
10.1 Official are out:

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Just go through and select the appropriate system, card etc. to get the drivers.

Release Notes: http://www2.ati.com/relnotes/Catalys...ease_notes.pdf

You can also follow their Twitter feed for more info:

http://twitter.com/CatalystMaker

Here's what I've gleened from there for now:

10.1 = Bug Fixes
10.2 = Profiles, Performance Increase etc etc
10.3 = Expands on 10.2

I've also noticed they will be focusing on also improving on GPU acceleration for Windows 7 Video Converter.

Some HTPC issues fixed:
Window 7:
- Loss of HDMI signal may no longer occurs when viewing Blu-ray content, and rescanning
for the HDMI signal no longer cause the entire screen to shift and display a
green border
- Overscan/underscan issue no longer occurs when setting displays to HDTV modes
- 120 Hz is no longer missing from display modes for specific digital displays
- Firefox now works properly and video no longer drop frames when playing Youtube
clips with Adobe Flash Player 10

Known issues:
Windows 7
- Media Center may display corruption when viewing DVB-T content
- Performing rotation or resolution changes may cause the player to stop responding
during h.264 HD content playback
- Enabling split screen demo mode has no effect on WinDVD during Blu-ray content
playback

Vista:
- ATI Catalyst installation log may report the HDMI audio driver as failed, although
driver was successfully installed as shown by the Device Manager
- WinDVD 10 may stop responding when moved to an extended display in a multimonitor
setup
- HDTV custom modes being added might not appear under the Desktop Area of the
Display Desktop Properties in ATI Catalyst Control Center
- With one of displays connected via the DisplayPort, PowerDVD may terminate
during Blu-ray content playback in Eyefinity mode

Does version 10.1 solve the Sleep issue?
My system does not play video after coming back from sleep after Catalyst 9.8.
I'm also experiencing sleep/wake issues. Sometimes, when waking up, my HTPC becomes unresponsive and I have to reboot. I can't wait for 10.1, I hope it will fix this!!
I wouldn't get your hopes up. This bug has been there pretty much forever - I've been experiencing it since I switched to ATI from nvidia around catalyst 8.10 !
hmm, never had such sleep/wake issues with my discreet cards (2600xt, 3850, 4670 & 5770 now).

Is that an IGP issue?

Yes, repros with 4200 and 3200 (I guess). 9.8 is the last version that works.

No I'm using a 4650 on Vista x86 and the problem has always been there. It's intermittant but about 1 time in 10 when resuming from sleep I get a black screen instead of the VMC screen. Using the MST tool helps but no always, and once it gets stuck nothing fixes it but a reboot.

Quite a few others had the same problem when the 4xxx 1st came out, but I don't think anyone ever fixed it 100%. Most just resorted to leaving their machines on 24/7.
I've got the same problem on my Nvidia system. About 1 in 10 times after waking from sleep just a black screen while in media center mode. Window 7 32 bit.
Not just an ATI problem then! But I'm sure it's driver related so it would be nice if they ever fixed it. Are you using the MST tool?

I've discovered that often it's not actually a complete computer freeze, more that Media Center has locked up. Pressing Alt-F4 gets me back to to the desktop but media center won't run after that (get the same black screen again) so I have to reboot anyway.
This seems to be slightly different problems. The IGP related issue happens every time when resuming from sleep. The problem was introduced with 9.9. and hasn't been fixed yet.

bump to update original post to 10.1 officials and release notes.

Has this fixed sleep issues for anyone? Otherwise I'm sticking with my trusty 9.2s !

I'll do I clean sweep and install of the ATI drivers tonight and test the sleep issue and see if I have any problems. I've never really put my HTPC to sleep since the beta of W7, so I can't really say 100% that if it works for me, that anythings been fixed.
Is there anyway to adjust the over/underscan with any Windows 7 64 bit Catalyst driver? I have tried 10.1 and 9.7 and you cannot resize the destop. If there is no way to do it, I will just put back my Vista 32 bit drive in, as I have it perfect on my front projector. Figured I would try Windows 7 64 bit since I had a copy of it.

Thanks,
Dan

yes there is, go into the catalyst control center, select the 'desktop and displays' from the dropdown in the upper left corner. This should bring up your displays. Right click on the display you want to adjust in the bottom bar and select configure. Select the scaling options tab and that will let you under/overscan.

I've successfully put my computer to sleep and it awoke with no video issues with the 10.1's. YMMV however as I've never really used the sleep function before so I can't truly say if it's been fixed or not.

Thanks. I feel like an idiot. After I posted, I went back to playing around with it and found it. Thanks for your help.

It's there on the link .

Basically, I got expanded levels when testing two 1080p files containing a ramp pattern: a mpeg2 .ts file and a VC-1 file from the HD Basics BD disc. Files were opened directly from disc with different players (to discard video rendering issues): MPC-HC, Zoom Player, WMP, PDVD9, TMT3 & WinDVD2010. Same results for each of them. On MPC-HC & Zoom Player I played of course with the video renderer.

Now if I open that same ramp pattern from the HD Basics BD on PDVD9, WinDVD2010 & TMT3 by playing the BD, and selecting it from the BD menu, it looks perfect.

OTH I got no issues reading .MKVs of any kind (SD x264, HD VC-1 & H264), so it really looks lke a bug. Also no issues with normally playing DVDs, and BDs of course.

This is on a 5770 with CAT9.12 hotfix & 10.1. Dynamic Range is set to 0-255 in AVIVO Video->Advanced settings. The "Use application settings" is unchecked in Basic Color.
The HD5670 is not on the supported list for 10.1. However, you can find the Redwood RC3 drivers here:

http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles...on-HD5670.aspx

I tried installing the 10.1 CCC first which failed and then tried the RC3 drivers which appeared to work. However, I was not able to play DVDs after that. Uninstalling CCC and reinstalling the package in the link above got everything working.
ah yes, the overlay vs evr bug.

k, i address this by using hotkeys and 2 different profiles. it makes the switch easier, but, yeah its annoying,

Did someone else tried ATI CCC 10.1 and tested the sleep issue?
What is the recommended setting in the ATI Control panel for Pixel format in this scenario:

Media Center Win7
HDMI Connection to a Pioneer Kuro

Used for HDTV viewing and BD discs....

RGB Studio levels or RGB PC Levels? Or the Yb settings for 4:4:4 or 4:4:2?

Thanks!

current EDID override for DENON receivers works just fine...

Yes, still not fixed. No go for me on my 785g system. It actually seems to get worse, since 1080i videos stuttered pretty badly after upgrading (from 9.8). I didn't look further into this due to the existing resume problem.

Once resuming from sleep no videos would play (black screen) after the 1st try. I then tried another video and my whole system locked up.
So this driver version is back to the bin, where it belongs.
