Any suggestions? TIA folks.

Are you certain it even has a multi-channel option? Many hybrid SACDs do not. If the player is set to default to multichannel, and the disc has that it will play.
According to SA-CD.net, that is a stereo title.
It's a stereo copy only. There are no multichannel Kinks SACDs unfortunately.
hmmm.. ok. So, even if it says multi channel SACD on the case, it's only stereo SACD?

I've got the same SACD - there is no surround track on it

I thought I would pass this on to group after emailing Customer Service at Oppo.

"I wanted to pass this along to custumer service at Oppo.

I own a copy of the film Maniac Cop (Blu-Ray) from Synapse Films.
This blu-ray is not recognized as a a movie, the LCD on the player shows "disc unknown".

I tried the disc on a second blu-ray player I have, a Samsung (BDP-3600) and it played just fine."

Lovely first time this has ever happened out of my Blu-Ray movies. I still have the DVD I guess I will keep using it.

This hasn't been released yet. You "own a copy"?

Orb Products Bring Netflix, Pandora, Amazon, Hulu, etc. to Oppo

http://www.orb.com/

I've done some experimentation with this (as part of Oppo Beta Testing) and it appears to work, albeit in a "new product" sort of way.

You buy the "Orb BR" disc for about $25. It includes a USB memory stick that you insert and set up as your Persistent Storage (instead of using the internal Persistent Storage in the Oppo).

Meanwhile, on a Mac or Windows PC you download the free "Orb Caster" application. Orb Caster actually contains the smarts for connecting to the streaming services, as well as providing the ability to access media files from your computer. NOTE: This is a processor heavy application, so be sure to check the minimum speed specs to see if your computer will suffice.

The third piece is user control. This is accomplished either with a "Mini Controller" app on your computer (included with the Orb Caster download), or a free iOS app "Orb Controller". I believe they also have an Android version but I've not played with that.

You fire up Orb Caster on your computer, and make sure it can receive incoming network connections. Then you play the Orb BR disc on your Oppo. Then you fire up your controller app -- whichever one you want to use. NOTE: All three pieces have to be running on the same, local network so they can find each other.

For password services like Netflix, you tell the controller your account email and password and it sends over and saves those in Orb Caster. At that point you can view your Instant Queue, or do Searches. When you select a program to play, Orb Caster establishes the incoming stream and re-streams that to Orb BR on your Oppo.

For media files, you tell Orb Caster which sets of files to index, and they then become available in the controller app. (Orb Caster can also act as a DLNA server, presenting your media files to the DLNA file playing UI in the Oppo itself.)

There are definitely still some strangenesses in all this, and I don't think the playback quality is quite up to native apps yet (given the same network speed in both cases). But as an alternative to no access at all, it's pretty cool!

Definitely something for you early adopters out there to consider. Folks who will only tolerate a bullet-proof streaming solution should probably wait until more reports come in from folks who've tried it.

NOTE 1: The latest version of Orb BR and Orb Caster supports the Oppo BDP-80, BDP-83, BDP-93 and BDP-95. The Orb folks still need to update all the pages on their web site to properly reflect this. Orb BR auto-updates when it launches. The necessary version of Orb Caster is the one available from the public download link on the Orb web site.

NOTE 2: For the BDP-93 and BDP-95, the native apps for Netflix and Pandora are preferable. But Hulu and Amazon access should still be interesting.

Check your spam filters. I asked OPPO directly about your E-Mail, and if you were the person who E-Mailed them on October 8th, at 3:14PM PST, you got the following replay on October 8th, at 4:10PM PST:

Most of the time Unknown Disc errors are due to a bad disc master. If at all possible try replacing the disc with another one from the film distributor.

If the replacement disc has the same issues, then we would recommend sending the disc to us for media compatibility testing. With the disc we can determine the cause of your errors, and if possible, resolve them through a future firmware release.

Please note you can now order Orb BR that Bob mentioned a few posts ago against the BDP-80 with the option of the $5.99 1 GB USB Thumb drive. see http://www.orb.com/en/store.html Even though buy now link lists the BDP-83, the BDP-80 uses the same disk and thumb drive.

www.orb.com now lists the Oppo BD players under technical specs.

quick question- I currently have an onkyo 608,no analog inputs for sacd/dvd-audio,I'm using the hdmi input,as I'm happy with my bdp80 as a blu/dvd player would it be moot to upgrade to a 95 for audio as it would only be using the onkyo's dacs anyways? thanks

The performance would be the same.

The BDP-93 would be the most direct route for an "upgrade" in your setup. However, audio quality would not be a reason to do it. The 93 offers a great deal more than the 80, but if you're not using those particular features it's a moot point.

Looks like it does ESPN3 as well. Interesting find as I have been thinking of going the htpc route. One thing I dont like after doing some testing is Netflix playback and trying to tweak the video playback on the htpc. I am still in testing phases with this. so this orb looks like maybe an alternative solution with my oppo bdp-80.

So the downside is you have to have this disk loaded to use these features?

Does anyone know if this works for MLB.tv?

To see a list of supported streaming services, go to Orb BR and use the dropdown box under "Online Content Sources" to find the service you are interested in.

Well, I just pulled the trigger on the Orb system for my BDP 80-- curious to try it. Although it sounds like my ancient Dell home PC may struggle a bit with this (good excuse to upgrade? ha ha)

Yes the Orb BD emulates a device so that Orb caster can stream content to it. The quality of game playback is interesting as you see higher quality streamed video in most cases viewed and in widescreen via ESPN3. Note not every ESPN3 game is widescreen though.

Did you have to buy it with the usb stick?

You can remove the USB stick either by entering 0 in the quantity next to the stick at checkout, or choose PS3 as your hardware.

You can use any USB stick with the player as long as it is FAT32 formatted.

You don't have to, but I added it to my cart for the few extra bucks.

So, with the Orb software can the BDP-80 play a DVD .iso file at 480i/576i ?

No. ISO is not a format that can be streamed as it has to react like a file system rather than just a file.

If I recall though with PS3 media server you can stream ISOs but I haven't tried it in a while.

So this CD must some how convert the media format as for fun I tried testing Playon with the Oppo and it just resorts back from say netflix as that file says it is mpeg.

It doesn't stream the ISO itself. It opens it like a container and streams the mpeg video contents. Last time I check it was also transcoding, which shouldn't be necessary.
