They came out of Germany. You can still get them from eBay Germany.

I may pick it up if it doesn't cost too much. Though I could be content with an OTA capture if PBS ever showed it again.

Dont know how rare it is but I have an Acer Demo HDDVD, it was supplied with some Acer notebooks and is sort of like an extended version of the Warner HDDVD ad.

Is the UFO HDDVD rare?

Thanks for the info, I'm not really a collector or anything, I was just curious. It's a very interesting topic though.

I sorta wish I had an analog TV setup still for my CLD-3080; I do recall marvelling at how some of my LDs looked at the time. But most I find unwatchable anymore.

I still enjoy LD's on occasion. I just purchased 2 2D comb filters. Star Wars Original Trilogy in 5.1, The Godfather Trilogy Chronologically edited... Sweet!

I just picked up about 10 LD's full of music videos, they were made for television/kiosk playback and are not retail disc, mostly videos from the early 1990's.

You are reminding me that my quest for Rainbow Goblins Story in DVD goes unfulfilled. That music LD from the early 80's sent me into my buying frenzy--awesome program.

But I'm just taking this OT discussion even further OT--sorry...

I must have an underlying fetish for dead formats. I still use both laserdisc and HD DVD quite a bit.

I have the South Park Fun With Weapons disk and P2, but that is the only ones that were "rare". I tried to buy a demo disk when circuit city closed down, but sadly the guy in charge renegged on our deal and sold it to someone else.

My rarest HD DVD must be Mr and Mrs Smith from Poland.

Here are some more possible rare titles:

Picture This
Apples and Oranges
The two adult films from High Def Entertainment (Girls Gone Skiing and another movie)
The all male (Ransom?) and the transexual (TS Cheerleaders or something?) adult movies
Bee Movie *cough*
Deadlands 2 ?

The first two are still easy enough to find.

The two films from HD Entertainment are rare.

Ransom is rare and from what I heard Transsexual Escorts never got released.

Another rare adult title would be Airgazmic, and of course, the HDDVD Sampler from Digital Sin.

I did have a pic of my adult collection posted for about a day (not here) and took it down. It had the DVD version of Transsexual Escorts in it however, as well as the DVD Airgazmic, both of which I bought as HD DVD but were recieved as DVDs. I know Tormond has the HD DVD Airgazmic, but no one I know has the other. I'm not 100% sure it wasn't released, but I think I remember DrCrawn confirming that it wasn't.

I have that one. It was pretty hard to get even when it was available. Did Exploited even have that one? I think I ordered directly from Poland or somewhere.

Yes

Band of Brothers set

They made a lot, but people aren't going to sell them as long as the Blu-ray version is considered inferior due to the slight DNR.

Most of the other rare titles may in fact be extremely rare, but do people really care much now? What is the true value of say, Sublime on HD DVD when you can get the BD for 15 bucks?

I just won the Jack Ryan Collection on fleabay-new/sealed!
I'm also looking for the Heimko CSI NY HD-DVD Demo disc.

I've also started my D-VHS collection starting Jan of this year.

I had Taking Lives, and it's in my database of stuff I have (or used to have). No idea what I sold it for but it wasn't anywhere near $700. Didn't know it was rare. Probably went for $10 or so. Don't remember if I had opened it or not. Don't remember much of anything about it. Didn't remember I had it until I saw it in my database.

It's not rare anymore... There was a time when only a few were to be found. Since then a truckload hit the market. I wouldn't pay more than $10 for it now.

the d-theater version of Bourne identity is very rare.
I would like to find the first Lara Croft in HDDVD. I missed it when it was at Exploited.

No, Cradle of Life
I would still think Bonnie and Clyde might be more rare since it was one of the last pressed but still havnt found Feast anywhere but eBay. I havnt researched but LDDB has quite an extensive list of released hddvd's there. A few Ive never even heard of.

I bought feast a couple years ago from inetvideo for 5 bucks...it can't be that rare
